My wife and I (and 2 young boys 7 and 11) have lived on 23rd Pl. for the last 12 years, and in Renton for almost 40 years. It is my sincere hope that this project will be declined as it will alter the character of our neighborhood and adversely impact safety and quality of life of residents. Though the neighborhood has seen an increase in traffic from neighboring streets over the last 12 years, the City has not purposefully increased impacts on our street- though this proposed project does just that. Adding additional dwellings (this one is just the first) without improvements to street and safety infrastructure will significantly diminish the character of our neighborhood. This residential street and neighborhood were not designed to support increases in density and traffic. Adding an ADU, or any additional housing structures would exponentially increase traffic impacts altering our ability to safely enjoy our neighborhood. As the neighbor adjacent to Mr. Hyodo's property, I had significant concerns when I learned access to the ADU was proposed to come from 23rd PL. and to utilize existing parking. What existing parking? Where will the additional inhabitants park? Currently this street is already lined with the cars, and in many cases reducing sightlines. This project purposefully adds additional vehicle traffic and street parked cars to which without a doubt put my children and family at an increased risk of incident. We request this proposal be denied until the City can evaluate and implement measures which offset foreseeable and unforeseeable impacts to residents of 23rd PL.
