ASPHALTIC SURFACE COURSE MIXTURES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 9-02.1(4) OF THE WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THE MIXTURE SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM MARSHALL STABILITY OF 1,000 POUNDS, AND THE SURFACE COURSE SHOULD BE COMPACTED TO A MINIMUM OF 97% MARSHALL DENSITY (ASTM SPECIFICATION D 1559). 7. THE PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE PAVEMENT MIXTURE SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AIR -ENTRAINED CONCRETE FOR PAVEMENT SECTIONS 9-03.1 OF THE WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THE MIXTURE SHALL BE DESIGNED TO DEVELOP A MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 4000 PSI AT 28 DAYS WITH A 4-INCH MAXIMUM SLUMP AND 5 TO 7% ENTRAINED AIR. 8. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A PRIME COAT AND TACK COAT TO FACE OF CURB WHERE CURB CONTACTS ASPHALT. 9. PROOFROLLING SHOULD BE USED TO EVALUATE PAVEMENT SUBGRADE. 10. THE RECOMMENDED PAVEMENT SECTIONS ARE BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE SUBGRADE CONSISTS OF UNDISTURBED SOIL OR STRUCTURAL FILL AND THAT THE PAVEMENT WILL BE CONSTRUCTED DURING THE DRY SUMMER MONTHS.
