RE: Philip Arnold Park: Scope & Fee Amendment #5.
Allowance for Geotechnical Engineering CA Support Services
Dear Betsy:
With ACI’s concern regarding the potential for unsuitable soils and noncompactable material to continue to be
discovered at the project site, we have discussed needing to have all resources available to provide a quick response
during construction. It would be prudent to provide ZipperGeo with an allowance for CA geotechnical support
services especially as construction schedule nears work on structural items such as the two shelters’ footings and
slabs, and the boardwalk with its helical pier support structures. This allowance would be on a time and materials
not‐to‐exceed basis and only exercised as‐needed and by written request.
TASK 8: ADDITIONAL EXPENSE
Task 8 of the main contract includes ZipperGeo services and is amended as follows:
8.2 ZipperGeo (Geotechnical Report & Geotechnical CA Support Services Allowance)
AMENDMENT #5 FEE
In consideration of the above service, we are proposing the following fee allowance (see Attachment).
Assumptions: N/A as contract is for as‐needed geotechnical services, see Attachment.
The above contract amendment #5 request is for the scope items beyond the existing scope of work tasks as
described in our agreement dated 12 December 2019. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
Best regards,
HOUGH BECK & BAIRD INC.

Dear Dean:
Zipper Geo Associates, LLC (ZGA) appreciates the opportunity to submit this proposal for providing limited
construction phase geotechnical engineering services for the above-referenced project. This letter
outlines our understanding and assumptions about the project, as well as our proposed scope of services.
Our understanding is based on experience with the site during the design phase and recent review of
contractor submittals.
PROPOSED SCOPE OF CONSTRUCTION PHASE SERVICES
We understand that PND and MTC are currently providing construction observation and testing services .
However, you have indicated that there may be some occasions when ZGA’s expertise may be useful in
the event that unanticipated soil conditions are encountered or during installation of helical anchors for
a new pedestrian boardwalk and/or installation of footings and slabs for the picnic shelters. Based upon
our experience with other projects of a similar nature and information provided by HBB, we anticipate
that our services will include, but may not be limited to, the tasks listed below.
•Review of the approved plans and specifications;
•Site visit completed on an on-call basis for purposes of observing site conditions during excavation
and structural fill placement and compaction;
•Performing field density tests;
