GENERAL NOTES:
1.ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH 2016 WASHINGTON STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS , AASHTO GUIDELINES AND OTHER APPLICABLE LOCAL BUILDING CODES,
STANDARDS AND ORDINANCES.
2.CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION MEANS AND METHODS AND VERIFYING
FIELD CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS MATCH THOSE DESCRIBED IN PROJECT PLANS AND
REPORTS.
3.VERIFICATION OF LOCATION, DEPTH AND REQUIRED CLEARANCES FROM ALL UTILITIES
(UNDERGROUND AND OTHERWISE) ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
4.FOUNDATION SEGMENTS ARE TO BE CAST IN PLACE AT THE SITE.
5.STRUCTURAL PLATE ARCH IS DESIGNED AND SUPPLIED BY CONTECH ENGINEERED SOLUTIONS,
LLC.
DESIGN NOTES:
1.PROJECT PLANS EMAILED TO PACIFIC AFFILIATES BY CONTECH ON MARCH 7, 2016.
2.FOOTING DESIGN BASED ON CONTECH PROJECT NO. 521539, DRAWING NO.
521539-010-MP-PRO-A DATED MARCH 7, 2016 .
3.FOUNDATION IS DESIGNED FOR CULVERT WITH:
SPAN = 21'-0"
RISE = 8'-10"
COVER OVER CULVERT = 8'-0"
4.DESIGN LOADS:

NET ALLOWABLE SOIL BEARING CAPACITY:8,000 PSF (SERVICE LIMIT STATE)

GEOTECHNICAL NOTES:
1.NO GEOTECHNICAL REPORT WAS PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT. ACCORDING TO THE
ENGINEERING REQUEST FROM CONTECH DATED MARCH 7, 2016, THE PROJECT OWNER
SPECIFIED AN ALLOWABLE BEARING PRESSURE.
2.FOUNDATION DESIGNED FOR ALLOWABLE NET BEARING CAPACITY OF 8,000 PSF PER OWNER
AS REFERENCED ABOVE.
3.CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUBGRADE PREPARATION AND OBTAINING GEOTECHNICAL
ENGINEERS APPROVAL OF FOUNDATION EXCAVATIONS PRIOR TO PLACING FOOTING SEGMENTS.
4.BACKFILL SHALL HAVE A MAXIMUM UNIT WEIGHT OF 130 PCF AND SHALL BE PLACED AND
COMPACTED PER CONTECH PLANS.
5.THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOTINGS SHOULD EXTEND BELOW THE ANTICIPATED SCOUR DEPTH AND
THE FOOTING SHOULD BE PROTECTED FROM SCOUR BY PROPERLY DESIGNED REVETMENT.
SCOUR WAS NOT INDEPENDENTLY EVALUATED BY PACIFIC AFFILIATES.
6.SUFFICIENT COVER SHOULD BE PROVIDED BELOW FINISHED GRADE TO PROTECT THE FOOTINGS
FROM FROST (IF APPLICABLE).
CONCRETE NOTES:
1.ALL CONCRETE SHALL MEET THE SPECIFICATIONS OF AASHTO CLASS A CONCRETE WITH A
MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 4,000 PSI AT 28 DAYS.
2.ALL CONCRETE WORK SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF 2015 WASHINGTON
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS AND AASHTO STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR HIGHWAY BRIDGES,
',9,6,21,,&216758&7,216(&7,21´&21&5(7(6758&785(6 FOR MATERIALS, QUALITY,
MIXING, PLACING, FORMWORK AND DETAILING. IN CASE OF CONFLICT, THE MORE STRINGENT
REQUIREMENT SHALL GOVERN.
REINFORCING STEEL NOTES:
1.ALL REINFORCING STEEL IS TO MEET ASTM 615, GRADE 60.
2.REINFORCING BARS SHALL BE PROVIDED, PREPARED, PLACED AND PROTECTED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH 2016 WASHINGTON STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS .
3.REINFORCING BARS SHALL BE HELD SECURELY IN PLACE DURING PLACING OF CONCRETE BY
TIES AT ALL INTERSECTIONS. DOBIES, OR EQUIVALENT, SHALL BE USED TO SUPPORT BARS.
OTHER METHODS MAY BE APPROVED TO SECURE AND/OR SUPPORT BARS.
4.CONCRETE COVER FOR REINFORCING BARS SHALL BE AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND SHALL
COMPLY WITH 2016 WASHINGTON STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS OR AS FOLLOWS:
4.1.CONCRETE CAST AGAINST EARTH 3"
4.2.CONCRETE EXPOSED TO EARTH OR WEATHER 2"
4.3.CONCRETE NOT EXPOSED TO EARTH OR WEATHER 1-12"
5.REINFORCING BARS SHALL BE IN AS LONG OF LENGTHS AS PRACTICABLE AND AS DETAILED.
SPLICES SHALL BE CLASS A SPLICES OR 40 BAR DIAMETERS. SPLICES SHALL BE STAGGERED
WITH SPLICES IN ADJACENT BARS BY A MINIMUM OF 30 INCHES.
6.MINIMUM BEND DIAMETERS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE CRSI "MANUAL OF STANDARD PRACTICE".
7.STANDARD HOOKS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE CRSI "MANUAL OF STANDARD PRACTICE".
8.ALL BARS SHALL TERMINATE IN A SPLICE OR A STANDARD HOOK
SLOTTED KEYWAY NOTES:
1.STRUCTURAL PLATE TO BE GROUTED INTO SLOTTED FOOTING WITH 4,000 PSI NON-METALLIC,
NON-SHRINK GROUT
2.KEYWAY TO BE 4" DEEP BY 8" WIDE AND SHALL BE OFFSET 3" FROM THE CENTERLINE OF THE
FOOTING TOWARD THE INTERIOR OF THE STRUCTURE.
3.INSTALL LEG OF STRUCTURE AT CENTER OF KEYWAY. BLOCKING OR SHIMMING SIDE PLATES TO
ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN PROPER BOTTOM SPAN AND SIDE RETURN ANGLE MAY BE REQUIRED.
4.GROUT AND SHIMMING MATERIAL SHOULD NOT CONTAIN ANY CORROSION-PROMOTING
AGENTS.
