The regular meeting of the Firemen's Pension Board was called to order by Mayor Denis Law at 2:00 p.m. in
the Mayor's Conference room, 7th floor of Renton City Hall. In attendance were Board members Mayor Denis
Law, Ray Barilleaux, Bruce Phillips, and Bonnie Walton. Also present was Jill Masunaga, Finance Department
Representative.
MINUTES APPROVAL
MOVED BY BARILLEAUX, SECONDED BY PHILLIPS,THE PENSION BOARD APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MAY
15, 2014 MEETING WITH CORRECTION OF THE MONTH FROM MAY TO MARCH UNDER MINUTES APPROVAL.
CARRIED.
MONTHLY STATEMENT
The financial reports for May 31, 2014 and June 30, 2014 were reviewed. Total cash/investment balance as of
June 30, 2014 was$4,848,218.28.
MONTHLY BILLS AND PENSION PAYMENTS
Bonnie Walton presented the US Bureau of Labor Statistics report indicating a 1.2% annual increase in the
Consumer Price Index (CPI) percentage for All Urban Consumers in the Seattle area for 2013. She
recommended the Board adopt a 2% increase for widows of firemen pensioned prior to the LEOFF Act (March
1970) effective July 1, 2014, as authorized by RCW 41.16.145. MOVED BY PHILLIPS, SECONDED BY
BARILLEAUX,THE BOARD APPROVE THE PENSION PAYMENT FOR JUNE 2014 IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,169.23
AND THE PENSION PAYMENT FOR JULY 2014 IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,357.64 TO INCLUDE THE
RECOMMENDED CPI INCREASE, EACH TO BE PAID FROM THE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND. CARRIED.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Bonnie Walton reported on her success in tracking down the current Orting, Washington address and phone
number of Connie Haworth. She distributed the information and suggested that Ray Barilleaux and/or Bruce
Phillips may want to contact her directly to confirm the information.
NEW BUSINESS
Jill Masunaga reported that the Firefighters Local 864 labor agreement had been settled and approved. The
agreement is retroactive to January 1, 2013, so she will now be calculating the Pension payment effects. She
noted that two members have passed on, and she will check with legal on proper procedure for those.
