I had preformed a tree inventory about a year ago. 3. “The applicant shall provide a report prepared by a qualified arborist that evaluates and determines whether or not trees identified to be retained can be retained throughout construction and not impact the health of the tree”. I have amended this initial tree inventory with my response to this question. I have reviewed the civil plans page C4 dated 12/8/15 and have the following comments. 1.Tree #1, tunnel/bore or air excavation with Arborist supervision. 2.Trees #2 and #11 are proposed to be removed. Please see my numbering below on 16204 114th AVE SE, Renton, WA 2of8 Steep Slope Tree Consulting, LLC 2/26/2015 Amended 12/22/16 the survey. 3. Note on pruning trees #4-10 prior to demolition for clearance during construction. These tree branches should be shortened for clearance and not limbed up. 4.The building pads are far enough away from trees 4-11 are sufficient. However these building conditions could change at time of house construction. Those house building plans will have to be reviewed individually. As long as construction is outside the below listed driplines the trees should survive. If any of these driplines be encroached on limits of disturbance will have to be determined by a TRAQ Qualified Arborist. In my opinion following these listed items will make the trees likely to survive and thrive after this phase of construction. It will also make it clear to the builder and contractors that these trees need to be save and protected. Assignment & Scope of Report This report outlines the site inspections by John A. Kenney, of Steep Slope Tree Consulting, LLC. Methods What I did do I documented the diameter and species of each significant tree on site or close border tree. For the species column, the first two letters of the genus and species are combined to make a code. Tree Tags If enough trees are on site to cause confusion I used a aluminum tag and stapled it into the tree with an etched number. I then documented the diameter with a tape. And the species of each significant tree on site or close border tree. All tree diameter measurement in inches. Tree Evaluation I used the Visual Tree Assessment strategy taught by the International Society of Arboriculture. It looks to have healed. But the species has brittle wood and is prone to breakage. Pruning to reduce weight on this side could reduce risk. Tree#2 Possible girdling at the base, and insect borer on a limited basis, 3 or 4 holes found. Trees #3-11 are all groove trees and may be susceptible to windthrow if any tree were to be left alone. Trees 3-7 could be broken into one grove and 8-11 another. This is because a tree between 7 and 8 was removed at least 10 years ago. This allowed both trees 7 and 8 to grow some longer branches in the direction of the removed tree and grow roots to resist this new wind loading. Tree #3 was topped at 20' and may have some weak attachments that could be cabled together. Tree #4 Flat base of trunk on east side. Could be an indication of decay. This tree is also suppressed by the other trees. Not a good candidate to be saved on its own. Tree #5 Suppressed. Not a good candidate to be saved on its own. Tree#6 Flat base at east west side of trunk. Could indicate decay or defect. Tree#7 ivy base to 20' up, blocking visual inspection. Possible weak attachment in top of crown. Ivy could be removed or cut at base. Top could be cabled. Tree#8 Ivy base to 20' up, blocking visual inspection. Ivy could be removed or cut at base. Tree#9 Suppressed. Tree#11 Ivy base to 20' up, blocking visual inspection. My observations and conclusions are as of that date. 2. Any legal description provided to the consultant is assumed to be correct. It is assumed that this property is not in violation of any codes, statutes, ordinances, or other governmental regulations. No responsibility is assumed for legal matters. 3. Care has been taken to obtain all information from reliable sources. However, the consultant can neither guarantee nor be responsible for the accuracy of information provided by others. 4. The consultant shall not be required to give testimony or attend court by reason of this report unless subsequent contractual arrangements are made, including additional fees. 5.This report and any values expressed herein represent the opinion of the consultant, and the consultant fee is in no way contingent upon the reporting of a specified value, a stipulated result, the occurrence of a subsequent event, nor upon any finding to be reported. 6.All trees possess the risk of failure. Trees can fail at any time, with or without obvious defects, and with or without applied stress. 7.Drawings and information contained in this report may not be to scale and are intended to be used as points of reference only. The reproduction of information generated by other consultants is for coordination and ease of reference. Inclusion of such information does not constitute a representation by the consulting arborist, as to the sufficiency or accuracy of the information. 8.Unless expressed otherwise, information in this report covers only items that were examined, and reflects the condition of those items at the time of inspection. Over time,deteriorating tree conditions may appear and there may be conditions, which are not now visible which, could cause tree failure. This report or the verbal comments made at the site in no way warrant the structural stability or long term condition of any tree, but represent my opinion based on the observations made. Nearly all trees in any condition standing within reach of improvements or human use areas represent hazards that could lead to damage or injury.
