Prepare Final Recommendations April – May April – July July - October Aug – Oct Nov – Dec AGENDA ITEM #1. a) In Order to Maximize Project Funding: •Property Owners Will Need to Provide ROW •Complete Streets will be Followed if sufficient ROW Already Acquired •Sidewalks Construction Only, No Curbs, Gutters and Stormwater Pipe Proposed Cost and Feasibility Criteria AGENDA ITEM #1. a) Criteria for assessing walkability: •Pedestrian Safety and Barriers (Pedestrian collisions, access to/distance between barrier crossings such as high-volume arterials, distance between crosswalks, missing sidewalks) •Connectivity to Community Facilities (Nearby land uses and major trip generators including downtown, schools, parks, major trails, senior housing, public facilities, hospitals, colleges, government centers, etc.) •Connectivity to Transit (Access to transit stops) •Continuity of Sidewalks (Presence and quality of sidewalks) •Community Support (Public outreach & feedback) Public Outreach: •Online interactive map where users can pinpoint their concerns and interests •Staff is available for direct outreach with interested groups and organizations Proposed Walkway Plan update AGENDA ITEM #1. a) •Any city or county may form a TBD by ordinance, following a public hearing, if it finds that the action is in the public interest (RCW 36.73.050). The establishing ordinance must specify the boundaries of the district - which may include all or part of the city or county establishing the TBD - and the transportation improvements that will be funded. The boundaries and functions of the TBD may not be changed without further public hearings. Transportation Benefit District (TBD) Formation AGENDA ITEM #1. a) •For TBDs that include all of the territory within the boundaries of the jurisdiction(s) that established the TBD, the legislation authorizes the governing board to impose 0.1% of the sales tax councilmanically (without voter approval) up to 10 years at a time. (for Renton a 0.1% sales would have generated $4.39 million in revenues for transportation projects and programs in 2022. •Increases the maximum transportation benefit district (TBD) sales tax authority from 0.2% to 0.3% and authorizes indefinite renewals of up to 10 years with voter approval.
