Jeffrey,
Thank you for your comments related to the 800 Garden project (LUA22-000415) wherein you indicated that the local
bus stop, near the project area, is important to nearby residents for affordable commuting. Please note that King County
Sheriff’s Office has a Metro Division and that is who has authority over ‘policing’ problems at bus shelters or making
recommendations on if they should be relocated. Your comments will be added to the public record for consideration by
the reviewing official and you have been added as a party of record.
Thank you for your interest in this project. If you have any further questions or comments about this project, please feel
free to contact me at 425-430-7289 or cclose@rentonwa.gov.

Subject: Renton Landing Bus Stop (Don't remove it)
Hello!
One of the tenants where I live was bragging about sending you a letter asking for a local bus stop to be removed, and
I'd like to say that's not a solution to anything she's describing. The crime rate of the area isn't "exceptionally high"
because of a bus stop, and removing it would be detrimental to a lot of tenants here who rely on it for affordable
commuting. Mass Transit in any community is very important considering a lot of people have no other conveyance
available to them.
Just wanted to let you know her sentiment is not one that's widely shared among the people here, and is fueled by
selfish intent.
Thank you very much for your time, and all that you do.

Jillian,
I want to pass along some additional information that I received from RPD today. To request to relocate a bus shelter,
the main phone number to call is 206-553-3000. King County Sheriff’s Office indicated that King County Metro would
gather your information and have one of their planners reach out.
Thanks,

Jillian,
Thank you for your comments related to the 800 Garden project (LUA22-000415) wherein you raised concerns regarding
crime, homelessness, and the mentally ill at the N 10th St & Park Ave N bus stop. Your comments will be added to the
public record for consideration by the reviewing official and you have been added as a party of record.
Renton Police Department (RPD) has indicated that the King County Sheriff’s Office has a Metro Division and that is who
has authority over ‘policing’ problems at bus shelters or making recommendations on where they are located or if they
should be relocated. If there is activity occurring at a bus shelter that requires immediate police attention, 911 should be
called and RPD will respond. With regard to the video and without context, if the subject standing in front of the bus was
creating a disturbance or harassing the driver, it is anticipated that the bus driver or the witness would report it to 911.
Or at the least, the bus driver would report it to dispatch so they could report it to police. RPD maintains that somebody
standing in front of a moving bus is risky behavior for many reasons and should be called into 911. Not too long ago, RPD
held a community meeting at Griffis on Lake Washington and this same information was relayed to residents at that
time.
Thank you for your interest in this project. If you have any further questions or comments about this project, please feel
free to contact me at 425-430-7289 or cclose@rentonwa.gov.

Principle Planner Close,
Here are some videos and a photo of additional incidents and issues that the bus stop brings. There are so many other
things that I haven’t recorded.

and to the point. I am a law enforcement officer and have witnessed the rise in crime in such a short amount of time. I
have witnessed loitering for the distribution of drugs, bold theft in and coming out of Target, loiters starting fires, and
car theft/scouting in our 'secured' parking garage. It is normal to encounter criminals, the homeless, and the mentally ill
at the N 10th St & Park Ave N bus stop attached to my building, facing Target. It's also very normal to hear transients

fighting with residents, bus drivers and getting arrested. I am confident when I say there is a direct correlation between
this bus stop and crime in this immediate area. I have witnessed thieves steal from Target and run for the bus several
times as I was walking out. I understand you are the Principal Planner for the new Commercial & Mixed Use project
located at 800 Garden Ave N Renton, WA. I am asking that you get the bust stop removed or at the very least moved if
possible.
