Your e-mail from Friday indicated you were looking for pole submittals. I found this e-mail from you regarding approval of poles on April 6th.
Please advise if there is something else you are looking for in regards to this project a David had released the Cyclone package based on this e-mail below. It also appears the service

Here are the submittals. I called and emailed Renton today asking if the soil at this site required structural analysis or if we could use the minimum requirements but have not gotten
a written response back yet. Eric Cutshall is who I reached out to. (425)-430-7423 I will call again in the morning to see if he will respond. As far as base forces from the manufacturer
go that might take some time.

Hi Everyone,
We can get this on our list, but can we please put this through as an RFI? That way we have a way of tracking this item on our end. Based on my review of the standard plans there should
be enough information to justify construction the pedestrian luminaire per 116.1 unless the city is requiring more than the minimum 2’-0” diameter by 3’-0” deep footing. If you could
include the following it will help us, be most efficient in getting turned around.
* A site plan showing where these lights are proposed.

* A final determination as to whether these are to be 5G poles or not. And if so a weight for the cell equipment which is attached to the top like shown in 117.1A.
The team is not moving forward with 5G poles
* The minimum footing size for the streetlight according to the standard plan is a minimum of 3’-0” in diameter by 5’-0” deep. This is where we are going to start for our design.

* Any specifics as to what Code the City is wanting these foundations to be designed to.
I did not see anything in the City code regarding any base forces that the pole should be designed to. @David S <mailto:davids@amayaelectric.com> is this something you can find out
from the manufacturer?
* Is there an assembly weight available for the poles? We will need that for a seismic check if needed. We can calculate a weight but wanted to ask as it would be faster if it is available.

It is not outlined but the anchor bolt length is also per structural analysis on 117.1A. I know areas in Renton have terrible soil. I think a request to go with the minimum depth on
foundation would be a good place to start.

Elyse, what design criteria is the City looking when they request structural analysis? Why would we not just use City minimums? If you don’t know, can you please inquire and find out.
Typically analysis is only required when you have to go away from City standards.

Craig,
Now that there is a decision on the pole that we’re proceeding with, we wanted to circle back regarding the structural analysis for both the roadway scale and pedestrian scale poles.
Based on the City’s standard details, they require structural analysis to determine the anchor bolt size and foundation depth. See Grant’s e-mail below for reference, we wanted to make
sure this doesn’t slip through the cracks as construction progresses.

Can you please let me know if a decision has been made regarding the use of 5G compatible poles? As a reminder, regardless of which type of pole is selected, we will need to conduct
a structural analysis for both the roadway scale and pedestrian scale poles. David will need this to determine anchor bolt size and foundation depth for materials submittals.

Light poles B-F and I-K (8 total) would be swapped out for the new 5G standard. In terms of supporting infrastructure, we will need a communication junction box at the project limits
for future tie-ins and each pole will need a communication junction box. It will look similar to my sketch below. The City’s standards are not super clear on these requirements, but
that would be my assumption based on experience with other jurisdictions.

The roadway scale poles would be 5G if the team decided to move in that direction. Typically, there would be an additional 2” conduit to a carrier junction box associated with each pole.

Hi All,
I had a conversation with David from Amaya yesterday afternoon, and I wanted to revisit a topic we previously discussed. Can you please let me know if a decision has been made regarding
the use of 5G compatible poles? Please note that regardless of which type of pole is selected, we will need to conduct a structural analysis for both the roadway scale and pedestrian
scale poles. The standard specifies a structural analysis to determine foundation depth for 116.1. I don’t have the previous iteration of 117.1A saved, but the new version specifies
both foundation depth and anchor bolt length to be determined per structural analysis. I have attached the previous iterations of both standards that we are referencing in our plans.
This will affect the timing of the materials submittals, etc., so we will need to know one (1) do we want to move forward with the 5G poles and two (2) the foundation depths of the
ped and roadway scale poles and anchor bolt lengths of the roadway scale poles.

I just spoke with Amaya, who would be the contractor preforming the streetlighting scope if they are awarded the job. They are the contractor who is relocating the existing pole. From
Amaya’s understanding this is a new thing of installing “5G ready” streetlight poles. It is something that Amaya could look into if they were awarded the job. At this time it sounds
like it is optional but would have a cost impact. Let me know if that clears things up.

Construction-wise, there won’t be much of an impact besides slightly deeper foundations as Michael mentioned. There will be a price increase for the 5G poles, but I will defer to the

My understanding reading the standard is that structural analysis is required for “pole foundations capable of handling 5G hardware” so the question is, are we intending to install 5G
hardware on this pole or was there 5G hardware on the existing pole? If the answer to either question is yes, the footing would need to be designed. If not, then the standard city standard
should apply.

According to the City’s comment on the approved plans, see snip below, and their standard details 116.1 and 117.1A, the foundation depth shall be determined by structural analysis. It
sounds like Amaya electric is only contracted to relocate one light pole currently. Since this pole is being relocated, David mentioned that they will be doing a replacement in kind,
but it’s my understanding that we will need an analysis for the other poles.
