Transfer and Bypass Switches
ATS, MBP, GTS and ABP
> Available in four dependable power transfer options
> Cost-effective transfer and bypass solutions
> Ensures continuous power to equipment
> Eliminates operation downtime due to maintenance
> Offers easily mountable wall, shelf or rack configurations
Alpha Technologies’ Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), Automatic Bypass Switch (ABS), Manual Bypass Switch
(MBS) and Generator Transfer Switch (GTS) are ideal for the Novus UPS series, particularly for outdoor traffic
applications. The Automatic Transfer Switch transfers the critical load to the UPS when the utility line fails or is out
of tolerance range. The Automatic Bypass Switch acts as a fail-safe device by switching the critical load to the
utility line if there is a fault on the UPS. The Manual Bypass Switch allows for a mechanical bypass of the UPS
without affecting the power to the critical load. The Generator transfer Switch automatically transfers the input to
the UPS from the utility line to a portable AC generator.

Battery Heater Mats
Extend Battery Runtime in Cold Weather
Alpha's battery heater mats are designed with safety and efficiency in mind. Alpha's battery heater mats are a low-cost way
of keeping backup batteries operating at their optimal temperature, maintaining battery backup performance at >70% of nominal levels at ambient temperatures below 32°F/0°C. The heater mats' insulated bottom ensure that energy is directed to
the batteries and not wasted heating the enclosure. Durable polyester outer shells protect the heating elements from damage;
their redundant thermal control protection ensures against overheating; and their fused power input protects against shorts.
Alpha battery heater mats are a smart addition to any backup power system.

The main power connector (1)
on the heater mat is plugged
into an AC source. In low
temperature conditions the
main control thermistor (2)
will allow power to flow to the heater mat coil (5). The thermistor is mounted on the
power cord so that it reacts to the enclosure temperatures and not the mat surface
temperature. A secondary thermistor (3) is mounted on the mat with significantly
higher temperature settings than the main thermistor (2). This thermistor keeps the
mat from overheating during extended run periods. A thermal fuse (4) is a final fail
safe device. The power connector (1) has an AC receptacle so that additional mats
can be plugged in. Its parallel wiring keeps the failure of the first mat from affecting
the operation of others in the string.
Note: Battery Heater Mats are one element in providing an optimal thermal environment for your batteries. Properly installed and used in conjunction with Alpha's robust batteries and outdoor enclosures, the battery heater mats will improve battery performance
and effective service life.
AlphaGuard™
Battery Charge Management System
Extends battery life
Replace single batteries, not the entire string
Spreads charge voltage equally across batteries
Compensates for battery differences as they age
Optional status-monitoring communications-interface modules
Safe unattended operation designed to CSA C22.2 No. 107.1 and
UL 1778 Standards
AlphaGuard monitors and protects your batteries by spreading the charge voltage equally across all the batteries
in the string, ensuring that every battery, whether old or new, is properly charged. With an ideal voltage always
across each battery, life and runtime are optimized. Individual batteries in a string can be replaced as they fail,
allowing batteries to be left in service longer. This stops the wasteful and costly practice of replacing batteries
based on a scheduled maintenance programs or disposing of batteries that may have years of useful life left because one battery has failed.

AlphaGuard
The AlphaGuard employs a patented Charge Management Technology (CMT) to shuttle excess charge current to batteries requiring a greater charge, and is contained in a small plastic enclosure that installs directly on top of one the batteries in the string. A short service cable connects the AlphaGuard to each of the batteries in the string. Both 36VDC (3 battery) and 48VDC (4 battery) versions are available. One AlphaGuard is required per string.
An AlphaGuard confi gured with the optional voltage sense cabling and interface module (DSM, ESM, EDSM or External DOCSIS®) allows the AlphaGuard to interface with a status-monitoring module. Two AlphaGuard modules can be connected to an interface module. Refer to individual interface module documentation for additional information.

OPTICOM™ PRIORITY CONTROL SYSTEM
OPTICOM™ MODEL 764 MULTIMODE PHASE SELECTOR
OPTICOM™ SYSTEM COMPONENT FOR ENVIRONMENTS WITH INFRARED
AND GPS TECHNOLOGY
Description
The Opticom™ Model 764 Multimode Phase Selector is a plug-in, four-channel, dual-priority, multimode
encoded signal device designed for use with both Opticom™ infrared system emitters and detectors and
Opticom™ GPS radio/GPS intersection units and vehicle equipment. It can be installed directly into the input files
of Type 170 traffic controllers equipped with priority phase selection software and in virtually any other traffic
controller equipped with priority phase selection inputs and related software. Phase selectors are powered from
AC mains or 24 VDC and contain their own internal power supply to support Opticom™ infrared system detectors
and Opticom™ GPS radio/GPS units.
The Opticom™ Model 764 may be used in IR only applications, GPS only applications, or IR and GPS
applications simultaneously.
The Opticom™ Model 760 Card Rack is required when input file space is not available. When used in GPS only
mode, the Model 1040 card rack may also be used.
Opticom™ Model 764 recognizes and discriminates among three distinct Opticom™ IR emitter frequency rates
via Opticom™ detectors: high priority, low priority and probe priority. Within each of these three frequency rates,
the phase selectors further discriminate among 10 classes of vehicle identification codes, with 1,000 individual
vehicle codes per class — 10,000 total per frequency rate. The Opticom™ Model 764 also recognizes three
different priority levels transmitted by Opticom™ GPS vehicle equipment: high priority, low priority and probe
priority. Within each of these three priority levels, the phase selectors further discriminate among 254 agency
IDs, 15 classes of vehicle identification codes, with 10,000 individual vehicle codes per class — for more than
38 million total per priority level.
Opticom™ Model 764 Phase Selector internally records each system activation. Each entry contains:
• Intersection name
• Date and time of the activity
• Vehicle class code of the activating vehicle
• Activating vehicle’s ID number
• Agency ID (GPS only)

iCCU-C – iNTELLIGENT CENTRAL CONTROL UNIT RACK MOUNT CARD
The iCCU-C is designed for use in Cal-Trans or 300 Series cabinets and is the intelligent
control unit for Polara’s iN2 accessible push button stations (PBS). The system is
provided with a special cable adapter which detects the low voltage pedestrian load
switch control signals present on the C4 connector. The special cable adapter (P/N:
850-382) connects between C4S and C4P and routes to the iCCU-C front panel. The
iCCU-C installs in the input file in place of the typical pair of Type 242 isolators used for
pedestrian detection. A small interconnect panel (P/N: iN2-ICB-C) provides connection
to 16+ PBSs. Each iN2 PBS requires only two wires. All PBSs connect in parallel and do
not have a polarity requirement. A required separate power supply (P/N: iN2-150WPS-C)
connects to the interconnect panel to power the iN2 PBSs.
The iCCU-C front panel includes a backlit LCD for displaying system status information.
Front panel buttons are used during setup, placing test calls, and to enable Wi-Fi.
All setup functions can be performed via Ethernet or Wi-Fi using a PC. Setup is also
supported using an iPhone or iPad via Wi-Fi. In addition, configuration via Bluetooth is
supported by pairing with any connected iN2 PBS using a PC, iPhone, or iPad. All of the
connection options provide full access to setup and configuration of both the iCCU-C
and all connected iN2 PBSs. Polara provides free apps for both Windows PCs (Win 7+)
and iOS (8.0+) devices.
Multiple configurations are supported, with the ability to change operational features
based on time of day. The system has internal conflict monitoring and health log data
capture that is both downloadable and contains extensive status/fault reporting. Remote
Monitoring can be done over Ethernet.

Cyber Security
Cyber security is an urgent issue in many industries where
advanced automation and communications networks play
a crucial role in mission critical applications and where high
reliability is of paramount importance. Key ROS™ features that
address security issues at the local area network level include:
.Passwords - Multi-level user passwords secures switch
against unauthorized configuration
.SSH / SSL - Extends capability of password protection
to add encryption of passwords and data as they cross
the network
.Enable / Disable Ports - Capability to disable ports so that
traffic can not pass
.802.1q VLAN - Provides the ability to logically segregate
traffic between predefined ports on switches
.MAC Based Port Security - The ability to secure ports on
a switch so only specific Devices / MAC addresses can
communicate via that port
.802.1x Port Based Network Access Control - The ability
to lock down ports on a switch so that only authorized
clients can communicate via this port
.Radius - Provides centralized password management
.SNMPv3 - encrypted authentication and access security
The ROS™cyber security features are included to help
address the various industry specific security standards such
as NERC CIP, ISA S99, AGA 12, IEC 62443, ISO 17799:2005
and PCSRF SPP-ICS.
Enhanced Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (eRSTP™)
RuggedCom eRSTP allows the creation of fault-tolerant ring
and mesh Ethernet networks that incorporate redundant links
that are 'pruned' to prevent loops. eRSTP yields worst-case
fault recovery1 of 5ms times the 'bridge diameter' and allows
rings of up to 80 switches. For example, a ring of ten
switches will have fault recovery times under 50ms. eRSTP
implements both STP and RSTP to ensure interoperability
with commercial switches unlike other proprietary 'ring'
solutions.
Quality of Service (IEEE 802.1p)
Some networking applications such as real-time control
or VoIP (voice over IP) require predictable arrival times for
Ethernet frames. Switches can introduce latency in times
of heavy network traffic due to the internal queues that buffer
frames and then transmit on a first come first serve basis.
ROS™ supports 'Class of Service' in accordance with IEEE
802.1p that allows time critical traffic to jump ahead to the
front of the queue thus minimizing latency and reducing jitter
to allow such demanding applications to operate correctly.
ROS™allows priority classification by port, tags, MAC
address, and IP type of service (TOS).
A configurable "weighted fair queuing" algorithm
controls how frames are emptied from the
queues.
VLAN (IEEE 802.1q)
Virtual local area networks (VLAN) allow the segregation
of a physical network into separate logical networks with
independent broadcast domains. A measure of security is
provided since hosts can only access other hosts on the
same VLAN and traffic storms are isolated. ROS™ supports
802.1q tagged Ethernet frames and VLAN trunks. Port
based classification allows legacy devices to be assigned
to the correct VLAN. GVRP support is also provided to
simplify the configuration of the switches on the VLAN.
Link Aggregation (802.3ad)
The link aggregation feature provides the ability to aggregate
several Ethernet ports into one logical link (port trunk) with
higher bandwidth. This provides an inexpensive way to set up
a high speed backbone to improve network bandwidth. This
feature is also known as "port trunking", "port bundling", "port
teaming", and "ethernet trunk".
IGMP Snooping
ROS uses IGMP snooping (Internet Group Management
Protocol v1&v2) to intelligently forward or filter multicast traffic
streams (e.g. MPEG video) to or from hosts on the network.
This reduces the load on network trunks and prevents
packets from being received on hosts that are not involved.
ROS™ has a very powerful implementation of
IGMP snooping that:
.Can be enabled on a per VLAN basis.
.Detects and filters all multicast streams regardless of
whether subscribers exist.
.Supports "router-less" operation by supporting an
"active" mode.
.Restores traffic streams immediately after an RSTP
topology change.
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)
SNMP provides a standardized method for network
management stations the ability to interrogate devices from
different vendors. SNMP versions supported by ROS™ are
v1, v2c, and v3. SNMPv3 in particular provides security
features (such as authentication, privacy, and access control)
not present in earlier SNMP versions. ROS™ also supports
numerous standard MIBs (Management Information Base)
allowing for easy integration with any network management
system (NMS).
1 eRSTP fault recovery times may be approximated as follows:
For 100 Mbps, fault recovery performance is <5ms/hop
For 1,000 Mbps, fault recovery performance is <5ms/hop + 20ms
ROSTM Features
www.RuggedCom.com 4RuggedSwitchTMRS940G
RuggedSwitchTM RS940G
8-Port Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) (cont’d)
A feature of SNMP supported by ROS™ is the ability to
generate "traps" upon system events. A NMS can record
traps from multiple devices providing a powerful network
troubleshooting tool. RuggedVueTM is RuggedCom's NMS
that provides graphical visualization of the network and is
fully integrated with all RuggedCom products.
SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol)
SNTP automatically synchronizes the internal clock of all
ROS™ devices on the network. This allows for correlation
of time stamped events for troubleshooting.
SCADA and Industrial Automation
ROS™ contains features that optimize network performance
and simplify switch management based on the unique
requirements found in SCADA and industrial automation
applications. Features such as Modbus TCP management for
retrieval of switch data using the ubiquitous Modbus protocol
and DHCP Option 82, a Rockwell Automation ODVA
requirement for IP address assignment based on the location
of the end device, provide capabilities not found in typical
"commercial" or "office grade" Ethernet switches.
Port Based Network Access Control (802.1x)
ROS™ supports the IEEE 802.1x standard that defines
a mechanism for port-based network access control which
provides a means of authenticating and authorizing
devices attached to LAN ports.
Port Rate Limiting
ROS™ supports configurable rate limiting per port to limit
unicast and multicast traffic. This can be essential to
managing precious network bandwidth for service providers.
It also provides edge security for denial of service
(DOS) attacks.
Broadcast Storm Filtering
Broadcast storms wreak havoc on a network and can cause
attached devices to malfunction. This could be disastrous on
a network with mission critical equipment. ROS™ limits this
by filtering broadcast frames with a user-defined threshold.
Loss of Link Management
Some intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) have dual fiber
optic ports with automatic failover to a backup port should the
primary fail. ROS™ ensures this mechanism works reliably
under all failure modes by appropriately disabling link signals
when required. ROS™ also flushes learned MAC addresses
to ensure the failover occurs quickly.
Port Mirroring
ROS™can be configured to duplicate all traffic on one port
to a designated mirror port. When combined with a network
analyzer, this can be a powerful troubleshooting tool.
Port Configuration and Status
ROS™ allows individual ports to be 'hard' configured
for speed, duplex, auto-negotiation, flow control and more.
This allows proper connection with devices that do not
negotiate or have unusual settings. Detailed status of ports
with alarm and SNMP trap on link problems aid greatly in
system troubleshooting.
Port Statistics and RMON (Remote Monitoring)
ROS™ provides continuously updating statistics per port
that provide both ingress and egress packet and byte
counters as well as detailed error figures. Also provided
is full support for the RMON statistics, history, alarms, and
event groups. RMON allows for very sophisticated data
collection, analysis and detection of traffic patterns.
Event Logging and Alarms
ROS™ records all significant events to a non-volatile
system log allowing forensic troubleshooting. Events
include link failure and recovery, unauthorized access,
broadcast storm detection, and self-test diagnostics
among others. Alarms provide a snapshot of recent
events that have yet to be acknowledged by the network
administrator. An external hardware relay is de-energized
during the presence of critical alarms allowing an
external controller to react if desired.
HTML Web Browser and Telnet User Interfaces
ROS™ provides a simple, intuitive user interface for
configuration and monitoring via a standard graphical
web browser or via Telnet. All system parameters include
detailed on-line help to make setup a breeze. ROS™ ,
presents a common look and feel and standardized
configuration process allowing easy migration to other
RuggedCom managed products.
Configuration via ASCII Text File
All configuration parameters are stored in an ASCII
formatted text file that can easily be transferred via TFTP
or Xmodem. The configuration file can be saved for
backup purposes and easily manipulated by a text editor.
The same text file can be downloaded to the switch at
a later date in order to re-configure or restore
a previous configuration.
Command Line Interface (CLI)
A command line interface can be used in conjunction
with remote shell to automate data retrieval, configuration
updates, and firmware upgrades. A powerful SQL-like
capability allows expert users the ability to selectively
retrieve or manipulate any parameters the device
has to offer.

signal configurations. Integrally formed, twist-on mounting
tabs make installation and maintenance a snap, and a standard
three degree downward tilt facilitates signal visibility.
Specialty visors include the 45° Angle Visor and the Scoop
Visor. The 45° Angle Visor comes in two standard lengths, 18”
and 27” and in right and left versions. It is designed to narrow
visibility for locations such as an angled intersection.
The Scoop Visor is designed to resist snow build-up on signal
lenses in colder climates. A louvered vent on top and an open
bottom contribute to the increased vertical movement of air
across the face of the signal lens thereby increasing resistance
to the deposit of snow.

Benefits Product Description
McCain’s Clamshell Mount is a quick and convenient way to mount a 16-inch pedestrian housing. Installed half on the pole
and half on the housing, the dual-mount pieces easily slide together creating a singular, secure mount. When the pedestrian
housing requires maintenance or needs to be replaced, the mount easily separates, allowing the housing to be quickly taken
down and remounted in the field.
Multiple mounting options to accommodate your t
specific requirements
Quick and easy to installt
Can be left or right mounted or easily converted one t

Vandal-resistantt
Available in multiple colorst
The McCain Clamshell Mount is a two-piece 16-inch
pedestrian housing mount. Its unique design allows multiple
mounting methods to poles four inches in diameter and larger,
including through-bolt, banding, and lag screw. When using
through-bolts, horizontally elongated bolt holes allow the
mount to be rotated on the pole for ideal positioning.
The signal half of the Clamshell Mount is bolted directly onto
the pedestrian housing and is secured to the pole-mount
piece with stainless steel hinge pins. McCain’s pedestrian
housing can be ordered pre-drilled to readily accept the
clamshell bolts making installation a snap!
Completing the installation, the two halves are secured to
each other via a vandal-resistant flathead socket bolt. The
mount is made from cast aluminum alloy for strength and
longevity and is available in a variety of colors to appear as
though a continuation of the pedestrian housing.

Description
The Opticom™700 Series Detectors transform
the optical energy detected from an
approaching, vehicle-mounted Opticom™
Emitter to an electrical signal. The electrical
signal is transmitted along a cable to the
Opticom™Phase Selector or Opticom™
Discriminator for processing.
Opticom 700 series detectors are mounted at
or near the intersection that permits a direct,
unobstructed line-of-sight to vehicle
approaches. Opticom detectors may be
mounted on span wire, mast arm or other
appropriate structures.
Opticom™Models 711, 721 and 722 Detectors
offer significant advances and flexibility for
specific intersection applications. The
Opticom detectors are designed for common
applications in three configurations: one
direction—the single channel Opticom
model 711; the single channel, dual detection
Opticom model 721; and two direction, two
output detection—the dual channel Opticom
model 722. All Opticom 700 series detectors
greatly reduce installation and life cycle costs
through their modular design, adjustable
tubes, and compatibility with existing
Opticom™Infrared System intersection and
vehicle equipment.

Subject: Additional Approved Siamese Cable for Vantage Use
Date: October 26, 2006
Re: To All Vantage Dealers
Because of continued interest in additional Iteris approved Siamese type video/power cables, and because of the potential problems that have been
identified with the use of non-approved cables, a second Siamese cable has
been approved for use.
The use of the Belden 8281 coaxial cable and a separate power cable that meets our specifications is still the standard, however, if a Siamese cable must be used the following cables are acceptable. The cables must be the
manufacturers exact part numbers as listed, use of unapproved cables may
negatively affect Vantage system performance and can result in the
invalidation of Vantage product and performance warranties.
• ISOTEC I59PVCC-00
• Advanced Digital Cable 99163SFX
This is a picture of the ISOTEC
Siamese cable. It is recommended that the outer cable jacket be cut
away completely on the drip loop portion, to reduce strain on the
camera BNC and Deutsch connectors. A suitable
waterproofing compound should also be used to seal the “Y”
junction were the video and power cable exit the outer jacket. This will
help to prevent water from wicking down the cable and accumulating
inside.
