THE FOLLOWING WAS NOTED:
Associated Earth Sciences Inc. (AESI) was onsite at 9:00 am at the request of the general contractor to observe a proof roll of the
planned south parking lot. While onsite we met with representatives from both Cornerstone and Continental Dirt Contractors.
Proof Roll:
AESI observed the contractor performing a proof roll of the southern parking lot with a front-end loader at full capacity. We
observed visually that the parking lot subgrade was dense, firm and unyielding in all areas with the exception of 2 locations in the
vicinity of the Stormtech vault. AESI marked the locations requiring improvement.
AESI observed the contractor using an excavator to remove approximately 15 cubic yards of material from the top of the parking lot
subgrade in the areas marked for improvement. The contractor then backfilled the excavations with approximately 15 cubic yards of
2.5-inch minus crushed rock before using a Hoepack to recompact the subgrade. We probed the improved subgrade area with a ½”
diameter steel t-probe, probing to an average depth of 1 to 2 inches, indicating a firm and unyielding condition. AESI also confirmed
the suitability of the subgrade for placement of pavement by observing the contractor performing a proof roll on the improved
areas.
