Dear Ryli:
In accordance with your request, Earth Solutions NW, LLC (ESNW) provided construction
observations, compaction testing, geotechnical consulting services, erosion control observation,
and stormwater testing services at the subject site. Our services included providing on-site
observations and testing on a part-time basis from September 9, 2022 to June 22, 2023. During
this time, our representatives visited the site to observe and test fill placed throughout the subject
site, including structural fill placed at building pad areas.
ESNW representatives observed building pad fill to be comprised primarily of re-distributed native
sand and gravel (recessional outwash). ESNW representatives conducted field density testing
in accordance with ASTM Test Designation D6938 (Nuclear Gauge Method). Representative soil
samples were returned to our laboratory for analysis of the maximum dry density and optimum
moisture content in accordance with ASTM D1557 (Modified Proctor). Representative field
density test results during site mass grading and building pad preparation indicate adequate
compaction of at least 95 percent was achieved at the tested locations of structural fill placed in
lot areas. In addition, ESNW representatives observed dense and suitable soil conditions at both
cut and fill lot subgrade areas when the prepared lot areas were probed with a one-half-inch-
diameter steel rod (T-probe).
ESNW representatives observed competent native soil or tested structural fill within pad areas to
be dense and suitable for the design allowable soil bearing capacity of 2,500 psf. In this respect
the prepared building pads (lot areas) are considered suitable for support of the new residential
building structures.
Based on our observations and testing, the earthwork construction associated with the on-site lot
grading was accomplished in general accordance with the project plans and our geotechnical
recommendations.
