NOTE TO CONTRACTOR
INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM THE CITY OF RENTON DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC WORKS INDICATES THE APPARENT CAUSE OF THE DRAIN-
AGE "BLOW-OUT" AND SUBSEQUENT PAVEMENT DAMAGE IS DUE TO
A BREAK IN THE 6" PIPE CONNECTING THE FOUNDATION AND ROOF
DRAINS TO THE EXISTING CATCH BASIN IN S.W. 2ND. STREET.
THE NECESSARY REPAIR WORK MAY BE SIMPLIFIED BY FOLLOWING
THE SUGGESTED CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE THAT FOLLOWS:
1. INSTALL NEW 12 CMP AND CATCH BASIN AS SHOWN
ON THE PLANS, MAINTAINING 24" MIN. CLEARANCE.
2. LOCATE AND EXCAVATE EXISTING 6" LINE FROM
BUILDING TO EXISTING DRAINAGE SYSTEM IN THE
VICINITY OF THE EXISTING ROCKERY SOUTHEASTERLY
OF THE BUILDING.
3. SEVER EXISTING 6" LINE FROM BUILDING AND
INSTALL NEW 6" NON -PERFORATED CMP TO NEWLY
INSTALLED CATCH BASIN, MAINTAINING 18" CLEAR-
ANCE WHERE POSSIBLE.
4. SAW -CUT EXISTING DAMAGED PAVEMENT, REMOVE AND
REPLACE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF RENTON STDS.
THE EXISTING 6" DRAIN LINE FROM THE BUILDING MAY BE APPROX-
IMATELY LOCATED BY RUNNING A STRAIGHT LINE FROM THE PAVE-
MENT BLOW-OUT AREA TOWARD THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE BLDG.
AND COMMENCING EXCAVATION IN THAT AREA.

GENERAL NOTES
I. All work and materials shall be in accordance with these plans and
the standards and specifications of the governing agency or munici-
pality under whose jurisdiction this project falls.
2. Approximate locations of existing utilities have been obtained from
available records and are shown for convenience. The contractor shall
be responsible for verification of locations shown and for the dis-
covery of possible additional utilities not shown, so as to avoid
damage or disturbance.
4. All 8", 12", and 18" storm drainage pipe shall be helical corrugated
metal pipe (16ga.), aluminum or galvanized steel, unless otherwise
noted. All steel pipe shall be Asphalt Treatment I coated. Non -rein-
forced bell and spigot concrete pipe, conforming to ASTM-C14 (extra
strength), Class II, may be substituted for the corrugated metal
pipe. (The bell end of the concrete pipe shall not be installed inside
the catch basins)
PVC pipe shall conform to ASTM D-3034 (SDR 35). All footing drains
and rockery drains shall be connected to the interceptor pipes with
6" ADS pipe or equivalent.
All pipe bedding shall be APWA Class "C". All trench backfill shall
be compacted to at least 95% of its maximum density at optimum
moisture content.
5. All catch basins shall be Type I-C or Type II-C (APWA-1977) and
shall be in accordance with standard drawings or details of the
governing agency. Within the City of Seattle, the City's standards
shall apply.
6. All disturbed surfaces shall be seeded to tough, hardy grass unless
other landscaping/erosion control measures are employed.
