(Dowels Shall Be Grade 40 Bars.) 4. 12" dia. piles carry a design load of 70 tons and 16" dia. piles carry 100 tons; The ultimate capacities Q derived from the driving formula shall therefore be 175 tons and 250 tons respectively. 5. End Plate of 12��dia. pile shall be 11/4 thick and shall be welded to the end of the pipe with a full penetration weld. All plates shall be A 36 Steel and welded with E60XX Electrodes. The outside of the pile shall be prepared for welding with a perimetric 45° bevel the full wall depth and cut square to the pipe end. For the 16" dia. pile, the correspond- ing and plate shall be 1 1 /2" thick and fabrication shall be the same. 6. Note the pile shell materials and driving procedure shall all be in accordance with the appropriate sections of the A.R.E.A.
