STORM DRAINAGE NOTES & SPECIFICATIONS
1. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR MUNICIPAL
PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION" PREPARED BY WASHINGTON STATE CHARTER AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS
ASSOCIATION, 1981 (APWA) AND CITY OF RENTON STANDARDS.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN TEMPORARY SEDIMENTATION/COLLECTION FACILITIES
TO INSURE THAT SEDIMENT LADEN WATER DOES NOT ENTER NATURAL DRAINAGE SYSTEM. THESE
FACILITIES MUST BE IN OPERATION PRIOR TO CLEARING AND CONSTRUCTION AND MUST BE
MAINTAINED UNTIL CONSTRUCTION AND LANDSCAPING ARE COMPLETE AND THE POTENTIAL FOR ON -
SITE EROSION HAS PASSED.
3. ALL LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ARE APPROXIMATE AND IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION TO AVOID DAMAGE
OR DISTURBANCE TO THEM.
4. A PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE AND A 24 HOUR NOTICE SHALL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING
NEW CONSTRUCTION. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE ALL
NECESSARY PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. (INSPECTION WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED
BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON.) IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S
RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING
ALL CONSTRUCTION.
5. STORM DRAIN PIPE SHALL BE CONCRETE, RUBBER GASKETED ASTM C14, CL 2 OR ASTM C-76-11.
6. BEDDING FOR STORM DRAIN PIPE SHALL BE CLASS "B" PER APWA STANDARD PLAN NO. 62 (PEA
GRAVEL FROM 4 INCHES BELOW PIPE TO SPRINGLIKE FOR PIPES 27 INCHES AND SMALLER)
7. TRENCH WIDTH SHALL BE 40 INCH MINIMUM OR 1-1/2 TIMES THE PIPE DIAMETER PLUS 18 INCHES
WHICHEVER IS GREATER. BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PIPE IN
6 INCH LAYERS COMPACTED TO 95% OF MAXIMUM DENSITY.
8. CATCH BASIN NUMBERS 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 & 9 SHALL BE APWA STANDARD PLAN NO. 52, TYPE I-C,
STORM DRAIN MANHOLE NO. 6 SHALL BE APWA STANDARD PLAN NO. 55, TYPE II-C. ALL CATCH
BASINS AND THE STORM DRAIN MANHOLE SHALL HAVE APWA STANDARD PLAN NO. 49 FRAME AND
GRATE. CATCH BASINS 2, 5 & 7 SHALL HAVE APWA TYPE 60A OUTLET TRAPS.
9. CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEANS, METHODS AND SEQUENCES OF CONSTRUCTION
AND FOR THE SAFETY OF WORKERS AND OTHERS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
10. THE TYPICAL PAVING SECTION SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:
2" MINIMUM COMPACTED DEPTH CLASS "B" ASPHALT CONCRETE
4" MINIMUM COMPACTED DEPTH CRUSHED ROCK (5/8 MINUS)
12" MINIMUM COMPACTED DEPTH STRUCTURAL FILL

SANITARY SFWER NOTES
1. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF A SANITARY SEWER CONNECTION , A SIDE SEWER PERMIT MUST BE
PURCHASED FROM THE CITY OF RENTON PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
2. TYPES OF PIPES AND FITTINGS THAT CAN BE USED FOR SANITARY SEWERS SHALL BE APPROVED BY
THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. RUBBER OR NEOPRENE GASKETS AS SPECIFIED BY THE
MANUFACTURE SHALL BE USED ON JOINTS.
3. CALL 235-2631 FOR INFORMATION WHEN BUILDING SEWER IS READY FOR INSPECTION AND
TESTING. BUILDING AND SIDE SEWERS SHALL BE TESTED PER CITY SPECIFICATIONS.
4. INSTALL SIDE SEWERS WITH 24„MINIMUM COVER.
5. IF SIDE SEWER IS NOT AVAILABLE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS
INSTALLATION. THE SIDE SEWER SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 6" IN SIZE. IF TEE IS NOT
AVAILABLE, THE MAIN SEWER LINE MUST BE TAPPED THRU A CAST IRON SADDLE. ALL WORK
WITHIN THE STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL BE DONE BY A LICENSED AND BONDED CONTRACTOR.
6. ALL WORK SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WASHINGTON INDUSTRIAL SAFETY
AND HEALTH ACT. (WISHA)
7. ALL TRENCH BACKFILL AND BEDDING FOR SIDE SEWERS IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL
CONSIST OF 5/8" MINUS CRUSHED ROCK.
8. 6" CLEANOUT WYE WITH 450 BEND AND PLUG. (REFERS TO DRAWING)
9. SEE ARCH ITECHTURAL DRAWINGS FOR SITE LAYOUT DIMENSIONS.
