1. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH "STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS FOR MUNICIPAL PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION"
PREPARED BY WASHINGTON STATE CHAPTER AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS
ASSOCIATION, 1981 (APWA) AND CITY OF RENTON STANDARDS.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN TEMPORARY
SEDIMENTATION/COLLECTION FACILITIES TO INSURE THAT SEDIMENT
LADEN WATER DOES NOT ENTER NATURAL DRAINAGE SYSTEM. THESE
FACILITIES MUST BE IN OPERATION PRIOR TO CLEARING AND
CONSTRUCTION AND MUST BE MAINTAINED UNTIL CONSTRUCTION AND
LANDSCAPING ARE COMPLETED AND THE POTENTIAL FOR ON -SITE
EROSION HAS PASSED.
3. ALL LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ARE APPROXIMATE
AND IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY
THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION SO AS TO AVOID DAMAGE OR
DISTURBANCE.
4. A PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE AND A 24 HOUR NOTICE SHALL BE
REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING NEW CONSTRUCTION. IT SHALL BE
THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE ALL NECESSARY
PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. (INSPECTION WILL BE
ACCOMPLISHED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON). IT
SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE
UTILITY DEPARTMENT 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL
CONSTRUCTION.
5. STORM DRAIN PIPE SHALL BE CONCRETE, RUBBER GASKETED ASTM
C14, CL.2 OR ASTM C-76-11 OR 16 GAUGE GALVANIZED STEEL
TREATMENT 1 ASPHALT COATED OR 16 GAUGE ALUMINUM HELICAL
CORRUGATED METAL PIPE WITH WATER TIGHT CONNECTING BANDS.
ALUMINIZED STEEL NOT ALLOWED.
6. BEDDING FOR STORM DRAIN PIPE SHALL BE PER APWA STANDAR
PLAN NO. 62.
7. TRENCH WIDTH IN BEDDING ZONE SHALL BE 1-1/2 TIMES THE PI
DIAMETER PLUS 18 INCHES.
8. TYPE 1-C CATCH BASINS SHALL BE PER APWA STANDARD PLAN NO.
52, WITH APWA STANDARD PLAN NO. 49 FRAME AND GRATE AND TYPE
60 OUTLET TRAP. TYFEZ40 4 S4 INCH CATCH BASINS SHALL BE APWP
STANDARD PLAN NO. 55, WITH APWA STANDARD PLAN NO. 49 FRAME

9. CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEANS, METHODS ANE
SEQUENCES OF CONSTRUCTION AND FOR THE SAFETY OF WORKERS ANE
OTHERS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
10. SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BE CONCRETE RUBBER GASKETED AS
C14-CL.3 OR ASTM C76-11 OR POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) RUBB
GASKETED ASTM D 3034, SDR 35.
11. BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PIPE
IN LAYERS WITH A LOOSE AVERAGE DEPTH OF 6 INCHES, MAXIMUM
DEPTH OF 8 INCHES, THOROUGHLY TAMPING EACH LAYER TO 95
PERCENT OF MAXIMUM DENSITY. THESE COMPACTED LAYERS MUST
EXTEND FOR ONE PIPE DIAMETER ON EACH SIDE OF THE PIPE OR TO
THE SIDE OF THE TRENCH. MATERIALS TO COMPLETE THE FILL OVER
PIPE SHALL BE THE SAME AS DESCRIBED.
12. ALL ROOF DOWNSPOUTS SHALL BE TIGHTLINED TO THE STORM
DRAIN SYSTEM.
13. SANITARY SEWER MANHOLES SHALL CONFORM TO APWA
SPECIFICATIONS, SECTION 63. MANHOLES SHALL BE APWA STANDARD
PLAN NO. 34.
14. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OFF THE CONTRACTOR TO OBTAIN
STREET USE AND ANY OTHER RELATED PERMITS PRIOR TO ANY
CONSTRUCTION.
15. PLANS APPROVED BY THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENCE OVER ALL OTHER PLANS.
16. THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM AND SANITARY SEWER SHALL BE
CONSTRUCTED ACCORDING TO THE APPROVED PLANS WHICH ARE ON
FILE AT THE CITY OF RENTON DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. ANY
DEVIATION FROM THE APPROVED PLANS WILL REQUIRE WRITTEN
APPROVAL FROM THE CITY OF RENTON DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS.
17. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED '-'LANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE
WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS.
18. ALL CATCH BASIN GRATES SHALL BE DEPRESSED 0.10 FEET BELOW
PAVEMENT LEVEL.
19. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS FC2 UTILITY TRENCHES ON EXISTING
TRAVELED ROADWAY SHALL BE BAC:KFILLED ONLY WITH PEA GRAVEL
OR 5/8 MINUS CRUSHED ROCK AND MECHANICALLY COMPACTED. CUTS
INTO THE EXISTING ASPHALT SHALL BE NEATLINE CUT WITH SAW OR
JACKHAMMER IN A CONTINUOUS LINE. A TEMPORARY MIX PATCH MUST
BE PLACED IMMEDIATELY AFTER BACKFILL AND COMPACTION. A
PERMANENT HOT MIX PATCH SHALL BE PLACED WITHIN 30 DAYS AND
SHALL BE THE THICKNESS OF THE ORIGINAL ASPHALT OR TWO
INCHES WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

BY .GOVERNMENTAL. AGENCIES AND IS
APPROVED FOR CONSTRUCTION.

THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE CITY OF RENTON WITH AN
AS -BUILT DRAWING OF THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM, THE SANITARY
SEWER SYSTEM AND THE SITE GRADING WHICH HAS BEEN STAMPED
AND SIGNED BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER.
