DECHLORINATION TREATMENT PROCESS: Dechlonnation is accomplished by the instantaneous chemical reaction of the free and combined chlorine in the pipeline with a dechlonnation agent. The type and grade of dechlorination chemicals available are: Sodium Thiosuffate (non -anhydrous) Technical grade-1001b. bags Sodium sutflte Technical grade and 1001b. bags Sodium B4uffite (anhydrous) Technical grade-1001b. bags and 4001b. drums APPLICATION: AMOUNT OF CHEMICALS REQUIRED: The residual chlorine in the pipeline will be neutralized by treating with one of the chemicals listed in Table 1. The amount of the chemical required will be determined from Table 1 based on the volume of water and the residuai chlonne concentration in the pipeline. When prepanng this solution. the chemical should be added to the water and mixed until the chemical has completely dissolved. 1. Batch Method For small pipelines, dechlonnation can be achieved by collecting the chlonnated water In a containment vessel and adding with continuous mixing the required amount of a dechlonnation chemical stock solution (11b. of dechlonnating chemical for every 100lbs. of water). 11. Continuous Feed Method For large pipelines, where containment of the chlonnated water is impractical, the continuous feed method is recommended. The flow rate for the chlonnated water will be set at a constant rate in which a constant rate of dechlonnation chemical stock solution shall be fed into the flow The two rates will be proportioned so that the dechlonnation chemical concentration will be continuous throughout the penod required to flush the chlonnated water from the pipeline.
