STORMWATER DRAINAGE PLAN NOTES (WHERE APPLICABLE)
1. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH KING
COUNTY SPECIFICATIONS.
2. DATUM SHALL BE K.C.A.S. UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED
BY KING COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
3. ALL SEDIMENTATION/EROSION FACILITIES MUST BE IN
OPERATION PRIOR TO CLEARING AND BUILDING CONSTRUCTON,
AND THEY MUST BE SATISFACTORILY MAINTAINED UNTIL
CONSTRUCTION ARE COMPLETED AND THE POTENTIAL FOR
ONSITE EROSION HAS PASSED.
4. GALVANIZED STEEL PIPE UTILIZED AS DETENTION FACILITIES
SHALL HAVE ASPHALT TREATMENT #1 OR BETTER INSIDE AND
OUTSIDE.
5. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED OR STABILIZED BY
OTHER SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT METHODS FOR THE
PREVENTION OF ONSITE EROSION AFTER THE COMPLETION OF
CONSTRUCTION.
6. GRASS SEEDING WILL BE DONE USING AN APPROVED TYPE
HYDRO -SEEDER, OR AS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY KING COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. THE PERFORMANCE BOND WILL
NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL THE GRASS HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED,
UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE KING COUNTY DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC WORKS.
7. ALL PIPE SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION
ACCORDING TO WASHINGTON STATE SPEC. 7-02.3(1). THIS
SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING OF THE TRENCH BOTTOM
OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL AS WELL AS
PLACEMENT AND COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDING MATERIAL
TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE PIPE
WILL BE SUPPORTED ON A UNIFORMLY DENSE UNYIELDING BASE.
IF THE NATIVE MATERIAL IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TRENCH
MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR "GRAVEL BACKFILL FOR PIPE;
BEDDING" THE FIRST LIFT OF PIPE BEDDING MAY BE OMITTED
PROVIDED THE MATERIAL IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TRENCH IS
LOOSENED, REGRADED AND COMPACTED TO FORM A DENSE
UNYIELDING BASE.
8. ALL BUILDING DOWNSPOUTS AND FOOTING DRAINS SHALL BE
CONNECTED TO THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM, UNLESS OTHERWISE
APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
9. ALL DRAINAGE STRUCTURES NOT ON PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAYS
SHALL HAVE ROUND, SOLID LOCKING LIDS, UNLESS OTHERWISE
APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
10. ROCK FOR EROSION PROTECTION OF ROADSIDE DITCHES,
WHERE REQUIRED, SHALL BE OF SOUND QUARRY ROCK TO A DEPTH
OF I FOOT. ROCK AGGREGATE TO BE AS FOLLOWS:

4" - 8" ---- 40% - 70%
11. STRUCTURES SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED WITHIN 10' OF THE
SPRING LINE OF ANY STORM DRAINAGE PIPE(S), OR 15' FROM
THE TOP OF ANY CHANNEL BANK.
12. THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED
ACCORDING TO THE APPROVED PLANS WHICH ARE ON
FILE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS CENTRAL
RECORDS. ANY DEVIATION FROM THE APPROVED PLANS
WILL REQUIRE WRITTEN APPROVALFROM THE PROPER
AGENCY, CURRENTLY THE KING COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC WORKS.
13. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE
JOB SITE WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS.
14. PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION/DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY
THE KING COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
DEVELOPMENT INSPECTION SECTION MUST BE CONTACTED
(Phone No. 255-2531) FOR A PRE -CONSTRUCTION
MEETING.
15. IN ADDITION TO FULL INSTALLATION OF TEMPORARY EROSION AND
SEDIMENTATION CONTROL FACILITIES, ALL R/D FACILITIES WILL
BE INSTALLED AND IN OPERATION PRIOR TO OR IN CONJUNCTION
WITH ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY WHENEVER THAT ACTIVITY
EXCEEDS THE CAPACITY AND INTENT OF THE EROSION/SEDIMENTA-
TION•CONTROL FACILITIES OR UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY
THE SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT DIVISION.
16. ALL CATCH BASIN GRATES SHALL BE DEPRESSED 0.10 FEET BELOW
PAVEMENT LEVEL.
17. PER KING COUNTY CODE 20.50.100 SECTION D., THE PERSON RE-
QUIRED TO CONSTRUCT THE FACILITY PURSUANT TO SECTION
20.50.050 SHALL MAINTAIN A LIABILITY POLICY IN THE AMOUNT
OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($)00,000) PER INDIVIDUAL,
THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($300,000) PER OCCURRENCE
AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000) PROPERTY DAMAGE, WHICH
SHALL NAME KING COUNTY AS AN ADDITIONAL INSURED, AND WHICH
SHALL PROTECT KING COUNTY FROM ANY LIABILITY UP TO THOSE
AMOUNTS FOR ANY ACCIDENT, NEGLIGENCE, FAILURE OF THE FACILITY,
OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY WHATSOEVER, RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION
OR MAINTENANCE OF THE FACILITY. PROOF OF SAID LIABILITY
POLICY SHALL BE PROVIDED TO THE DEVELOPMENT INSPECTION
SECTION, 155 MONROE AVENUE N.E., RENTON, WA 98055 (206-
255-2531, OR OPERATOR ASSISTED -ZENITH 5050, TOLL FREE
NUMBER) PRIOR TO SETTING UP A PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING,
PROVIDED, THAT IN THE CASE OF FACILITIES ASSUMED BY KING
COUNTY FOR MAINTENANCE PURSUANT TO SECTION 20.50.110, SAID
LIABILITY POLICY SHALL BE TERMINATED WHEN SAID COUNTY
MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITY COMMENCES.
18. CATCH BASIN GRATES INSTALLED ON COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL
CONFORM TO STANDARD DRAWING NO. 39 OR NO. 44 WHICH INCLUDES
THE STAMPING "OUTFALL TO STREAM, DUMP NO POLLUTANTS" AND
"PROPERTY OF KING COUNTY".
19. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS FOR UTILITY TRENCHES ON EXISTING
TRAVELED ROADWAY SHALL BE BACKFILLED ONLY WITH PEA GRAVEL
OR 5/8" MINUS CRUSHED ROCK AND MECHANICALLY COMPACTED.
CUTS INTO THE EXISTING ASPHALT SHALL BE NEAT LINE CUT WITH
SAW OR JACKHAMMER IN A CONTINUOUS LINE. A TEMPORARY COLD
MIX PATCH MUST BE PLACED IMMEDIATELY AFTER BACKFILL AND
COMPACTION. A PERMANENT HOT MIX PATCH SHALL BE PLACED
WITHIN 30 DAYS AND SHALL BE THE THICKNESS OF THE ORIGINAL
ASPHALT OR TWO INCHES, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
