3. All required storm water retention/detention facilities must be constructed
and in operatioi: prior to paving and building construction unless other-
wise approved by the Department of Public Works.
4. In all areas other than roads, where construction required the removal of
sod; etc., +nose areas shall be hydro -seeded with rve grass for the
prevension if on -site erosion.
All pipe shall be placed on stable earth, or, if in the opinion of the
engineer, the existing foundation is unsatisfactory, then it shall be
excavated below grade and backfilled to grade with sand -gravel, crushed
stone or other suitable material. Never install pipe on sod, frozen
earth or large boulders or rock.
6_ The foundation is to be excavated to a flat surface and fill carefully
tamped under the haunches of the pipe. The fill shall consist of local,
native, trench materials deemed suitable by the engineer for backfill

unsatisfactory, then gravel - Class "B" shall be placed and compacted.
7 The backfill shall be placed equally on both sides of the pipe or pipe -

thoroughly tamping each layer. These compacted layers must extend to
one diameter on each side of the pipe or to the side of the trench.
Materials to complete the fill over pipe shall be the same as described.
8. All drainage structures not on public right-of-ways shall have round
self-locking lids.
9. Rock for Erosion Protection shall be of sound quarry rock placed to a
depth of 1 foot. Rock aggregate to be as follows:
112" - 2" - 10% to 40%
2" - 4" - 20% to 40°
4" - 8" - 40 o to 70 <.
/0. Structures shall not be permitted within 10 feet of storm drainage pipe(s).
