STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS Standard Specifications for this project shall be "Standard Specifications for Municipal Public Works Construction" as prepared by the Washington State Chapter of the American Public Works Association, latest edition. 2. CONSTRUCTION All construction shall conform to the requirements of the Standard Specifications, these plans, and the standards of Department of Public Works. Where conflicts occur, the more stringent requirement shall apply. 3. INSPECTION The Contractor shall notify the appropriate departments for all required inspections prior to placing any utilities into service. Prior to any site work, the Contractor shall contact the field coordinator for plats, utilities, and drainage to arrange for the required connections. 4. GRADING All grading shall conform to the APWA Standard Specifications, Sections 12 and 13, and these plans. 5. CLEARING AND GRUBBING All clearing and grubbing operations shall be confined to the immediate vicin_ty of the street and utility easement right-of-ways, and to include those areas, where it is necessary to remove vegetal cover for controlled grading operations to provide soil slope stability. Tree removal outside of the street and utility easement right-of-ways shall be coordinated with the project supervisor. S'`ORM DRAINAGE NOTES 1. All catch basins shall be King County standard Type 1 or Type 2 as noted. 2. 12 & 15 inch storm drain pipe shall be concrete, rubber gasketed ASTM C-14 or ASTM C-7611 or 16-gauge aluminum 3 x 1 corrugations. Aluminum pipe shall be installed with end header sections. All required storm water retention/detention facilities must be constructed and in operatioi: prior to paving and building construction unless other- wise approved by the Department of Public Works. 4. In all areas other than roads, where construction required the removal of sod; etc., +nose areas shall be hydro -seeded with rve grass for the prevension if on -site erosion. All pipe shall be placed on stable earth, or, if in the opinion of the engineer, the existing foundation is unsatisfactory, then it shall be excavated below grade and backfilled to grade with sand -gravel, crushed stone or other suitable material. Never install pipe on sod, frozen earth or large boulders or rock. 6_ The foundation is to be excavated to a flat surface and fill carefully tamped under the haunches of the pipe. The fill shall consist of local, native, trench materials deemed suitable by the engineer for backfill purposes. -If, in the opinion of the engineer, the native materials are unsatisfactory, then gravel - Class "B" shall be placed and compacted. 7 The backfill shall be placed equally on both sides of the pipe or pipe - arch in layers with a loose average depth of 6", maximun depth 8", thoroughly tamping each layer. These compacted layers must extend to one diameter on each side of the pipe or to the side of the trench. Materials to complete the fill over pipe shall be the same as described. 8. All drainage structures not on public right-of-ways shall have round self-locking lids. 9. Rock for Erosion Protection shall be of sound quarry rock placed to a depth of 1 foot. Rock aggregate to be as follows: 112" - 2" - 10% to 40% 2" - 4" - 20% to 40° 4" - 8" - 40 o to 70 <. /0. Structures shall not be permitted within 10 feet of storm drainage pipe(s). //• The storm drainage system shall be constructed according to the approved plans which are on file in the Department of Public Works, A copy of these approved plans must be on the job site whenever constructio-, is in progress. ti a s 0 Q \u \ J v v O Q Q r rtTl O G 1 > 0 moo tQ 1 o to C y z I /1W 09 am-47/
