GENERAL NOTES:
1. ALL WORK, MATERIALS AND TESTING SHALL CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS OF SODS CREEK WATER & SEWER DISTRICT
AND THE 1991 WSDOT/APWA STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD, BRIDGE, AND MUNICIPAL CONSTRUCTION,
EXCEPT AS HEREIN MODIFIED. FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF SEWERS WILL BE SUBJECT TO SODS CREEK WATER & SEWER
DISTRICT RESOLUTION NO. 0318-S.
2. MANHOLES SHALL BE STANDARD PLAN B-23A, EXCEPT PROVIDE ECCENTRIC CONE AND 24" DIAMETER COVERS
BOLTED DOWN WITH 3-5/8" COUNTERSUNK N.C. SOCKET HEAD CAP SCREWS AND SINGLE 1" DIAMETER LIFT HOLE,
3"f FROM OUTSIDE EDGE OF OVER, PROVIDE 5/8"0 X 2-1/2" STAINLESS STEEL CARRIAGE BOLT INSTALLED IN
MANHOLE LIFT HOLE. DISTANCE FROM CONE TO TOP OF CASTING SHALL NOT EXCEED 20'. LADDER RUNGS SHALL
BE 1" DIAMETER DEFORMED BAR, GALVANIZED, SAFETY -TYPE STEP OR POLYPROPYLENE SAFETY STEP CONFORMING
TO THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS:
THE POLYPROPYLENE, CONFORMING TO AN ASTM D-4101 SPECIFICATION, INJECTION MOLDED AROUND
A 1/2" ASTM A-615 GRADE 60 STEEL REINFORCING BAR TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASTM C-478,
AASHTO M-199 AND ALL OSHA SPECIFICATIONS.
POURED IN -PLACE BASES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. PROVIDE 4" X 2' WIDE ASPHALT OR CONCRETE COLLAR AROUND
RIMS OF ALL MANHOLES LOCATED IN UNIMPROVED AREAS, LANDSCAPED AREAS, AND EASEMENTS. A/C OR CONCRETE
COLLAR MANHOLE ADAPTERS SHALL BE USED FOR PVC PIPE CONNECTIONS. INTERNAL CONCRETE CHANNELS, BENCHES
AND FILLETS SHALL BE FORMED USING CLASS 3000LS (LOW SHRINKAGE) AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 6-02.3 OF THE
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. WATER -CEMENT RA110 SHALL NOT EXCEES 0.38. A WATER REDUCING ADMIXTURE SHALL
BE INCLUDED IN THE MIX,
3. PIPE ALTERNATES:
o DUCTILE IRON, ANSI A21.51 AND ASA 21.4, CLASS 50 OR AS SHOWN ON PLANS.
o J.M. RING-TITE PVC CONFORMING 10 ASTM D3034-SDR35 OR EQUAL, WITH BEDDING FROM 4"
BELOW PIPE TO 6" ABOVE TOP OF PIPE AND SPECIAL TESTS.
4. STUB SERVICES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN CONFORMANCE WITH SECTION 7-18--SIDE SEWERS IN STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS WITH THE FOLLOWING CHANGES_
A. STUB SERVICES SHALL BE TESTED FOR ACCEPTANCE AT THE SAME TIME THE MAINLINE SEWER
IS TESTED FOR ACCEPTANCE
B. ALL STUB SERVICES SHALL TERMINATE AT THE PROPERTY AND/OR EASEMENT LINE WITH A 6"
CAP, OR 10' PAST AT OPTION OF THE DEVELOPER.
C. THE LOCATION OF THE STUB SERVICE TERMINATION SHALL BE MARKED BY THE CONTRACTOR
WITH A 2" X 4" TIMBER EXTENDED VERTICALLY FROM THE PLUG END TO A MINIMUM OF 12"
ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. A 12-GAGE GALVANIZED WIRE SHALL BE ATTACHED TO THE
TIMBER FORM END TO END. NEITHER THE WIRE NOR THE 2" X 4" SHALL BE SECURED OR
ATTACHED TO THE SEWER PIPE OR PLUG. THE EXPOSED PORTION OF 111E 2" X 4" SHALL BE PRE -
PAINTED TRAFFIC WHITE WITH THE WORD "SEWER" STENCILED ON WITH BLACK PAINT. THE END
OF THE 2" X 4" SHALL BE PRE -MARKED IN PERMANENT INDELIBLE INK WITH THE LENGTH OF THE
TIMBER INSTALLED.
D. MINIMUM SLOPE ON STUB SERVICES SHALL BE 27.
5. CONSTRUCTION WITHIN KING COUNTY RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF KING COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORK'S KING COUNTY ROAD STANDARDS, 1987, AND SUBJECT TO THE KING COUNTY
RIGHT OF WAY USE PERMIT.
A. AT THE TIME OF COMPLETION OF BACKFILL AND COMPACTION, ALL TRENCH BACKFILL UNDER
RIGHT-OF-WAY SHALL BE MECHANICALLY COMPACTED TO 95% OF MAXIMUM DENSITY EXCEPT
FOR TRENCHES OVER 8' IN DEPTH, MANHOLE TO MANHOLE. IN SUCH CASE, BACKFILL AT DEPTHS
OVER 4' MAY BE COMPACTED BY EITHER WATER SETTLING (JETTING) OR MECHANICAL
COMPACTION. THE TOP 4' OF THE TRENCH LINE SHALL BE MECHANICALLY COMPACTED TO 957.
B. IN ANY TRENCH IN WHICH 95% DENSITY CANNOT BE ACHIEVED WITH EXISTING BACKFILL, THE
TOP 4' SHALL BE REPLACED WITH GRAVEL BASE AS SPECIFIED IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON
1991 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD, BRIDGE AND MUNICIPAL CONSTRUCTION, SECTION
9-03.10, THIS NEW MATERIAL SHALL THEN BE MECHANICALLY COMPACTED TO 957..
6. CONTRACTOR SHALL REPLACE ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE IMPROVEMENTS IN A CONDITION EQUAL TO THAT WHICH
EXISTED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. CONSTRUCTION AREA SHALL BE FINE GRADED UPON COMPLETION IN
UNIMPROVED AREAS.
7. EXISTING UTILITIES INDICATED ON THE DRAWING HAVE BEEN PLOTTED FROM THE BEST INFORMATION AVAILABLE
TO THE ENGINEERS. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN LOCATION OF UTILITIES OR
IMPROVEMENTS BE CONSIDERED AS A BASIS FOR EXTRA OR ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION TO THE CONTRACTOR.
8. NO SIDE SEWER CONNECTION SHALL BE MADE TO THE EXISTING SYSTEM UNTIL COMPLETION OF THE BILL OF SALE
AND ALL EASEMENTS. OBTAIN SIDE SEWER PERMIT FROM SOOS CREEK WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT FOR EACH
SIDE SEWER CONNECTION PRIOR TO CONNECTION.
9. ALL COSTS OF SEWER LINE RESTAKING SHALL BE PAID BY DEVELOPER.
10. PROPERTY CORNERS SHALL BE PINNED WITH REFERENCE TACK ON CURBS BY THE DEVELOPER.
11. PUGET POWER VAULTS, HAND HOLES AND LIGHT STANDARDS SHALL BE LOCATED NO CLOSER THAN 10' FROM SEWER
STUB SERVICES. DEVELOPER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATION OF VAULTS, HAND HOLES AND LIGHT
STANDARDS WITH SEWER STUB SERVICES. NO CONSTRUCTION SHALL START UNTIL THE DEVELOPER HAS FURNISHED
THE ENGINEER WITH A WORK SKETCH FROM PUGET POWER. BILL OF SALE WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL VAULTS,
HAND HOLES AND LIGHT STANDARDS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED BY PUGET POWER.
12. MINIMUM SEPARATION OF POTABLE WATER MAINS AND SANITARY SEWER LINES SHALL BE: 10' HORIZONTALLY FOR
PARALLEL PIPE, AND 1-1/2' VERTICALLY FOR PERPENDICULAR OR OBLIQUE CROSSINGS, MEASURED FROM OUTSIDE
EDGE TO OUTSIDE EDGE. SITUATIONS OCCURRING WITH LESS THAN MINIMUM SEPARATION WILL REQUIRE
CONSTRUCTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 2.41 OF THE CRITERIA FOR SEWAGE WORKS DESIGN, PUBLISHED
BY THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY AS REVISED OCTOBER 1985.
13. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY SOOS CREEK WATER & SEWER DISTRICT AT 630-9900 BETWEEN 24 AND 72 HOURS
(REGULAR WORKING DAYS) BEFORE STARTING WORK.
NOTES RELATIVE TO CONNEC11ON TO EXISTING FACILITIES:
1. CONNECTION TO EXISTING LINE SHALL BE MADE ONLY WITH THE WRITTEN APPROVAL OF SOOS CREEK WATER AND
SEWER DISTRICT. 48 HOURS (TWO REGULAR WORKING DAYS) ADVANCE NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN.
2. EXISTING SEWERS TO REMAIN IN SERVICE AT ALL TIMES.
3. ALL WATER AND/OR CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM NEW SEWERS AND SHALL NOT BE
PERMITTED TO ENTER THE EXISTING SYSTEM.
4. EXISTING MANHOLE NO. 34-19 SHALL BE RE -CHANNELED AS REQUIRED.
NOTE:
A CONSTRUCTION PERMIT WILL BE REQUIRED FROM
THE CITY OF RENTON FOR WORK IN TALBOT RD.
