1. CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
ALL MATERIALS, WORKMANSHIP, DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS,
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS, THE LATEST EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, THE RENTON MUNICIPAL
CODE, AND THE CITY OF RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS.
2. CONSTRUCTION SAFETY
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AND PREVENT NUISANCES WHILE
PERFORMING CONSTRUCTION WORK ON THIS PROJECT. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEMPORARY BRACING FOR THE
STRUCTURE AND STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS UNTIL ALL FINAL CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE PLANS.
3. EXISTING FACILITIES AND UTILITIES
a. EXISTING FACILITIES: DURING CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ACCESS TO THE EXISTING FACILITIES
UNTIL THE PROPOSED GENERATOR BUILDINGS ARE OPERATIONAL AND APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE OWNER.
b. ALL UTILITIES: EXISTING UTILITIES INDICATED ANYWHERE ON THE DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN PLOTTED FROM THE BEST
INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO THE ENGINEER AND SURVEYOR. THE SOURCE OF INFORMATION GENERALLY CONSISTS OF
CONSTRUCTION RECORDS, UTILITY LOCATES, AND OTHER DATA OBTAINED VERBALLY FROM OFFICIALS ASSOCIATED WITH
THE PARTICULAR UTILITY. OWNER AND ENGINEER DO NOT GUARANTEE NOR ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE
ACCURACY OF THIS INFORMATION. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT OTHER ABOVE GROUND AND UNDERGROUND FACILITIES
NOT SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS MAY BE ENCOUNTERED DURING THE COURSE OF THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
VERIFY THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES TO AVOID DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR ALL DAMAGED UTILITIES IMMEDIATELY.
4, PRE —CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE
A PRE —CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE AND TWENTY—FOUR HOUR N0110E WILL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING
CONSTRUCTION. PRE —CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIFIC WORK ITEMS ARE NOTED IN THE
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
5. PERMITS AND INSPEC1ONS
a. PERMITS: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SECURE ALL NECESSARY PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. SEE
SPECIFICATIONS FOR FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING PERMITS.
b. INSPECTION: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL BUILDING DEPARTMENT INSPECTIONS DURING CONSTRUCTION. SOME
OF THE INSPECTIONS WILL BE PERFORMED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
NOTIFY THE OWNER 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF ANY BACKFILLING OR COVERING OF CONSTRUCTION.
6. MAINTAINING FACILITY OPERATIONS
THE EXISTING FACILITIES SHALL REMAIN OPERATIONAL DURING CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED GENERATOR BUILDINGS.
SEE NOTE 6 ON DWG NO. E02 AND NOTE 2 ON DWG NO. E03. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A PLAN TO THE
OWNER FOR APPROVAL THAT DETAILS THE PROPOSED METHOD OF KEEPING THE FACILITIES OPERATIONAL DURING THE
CONSTRUCTION WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE AVAILABLE TO RESPOND TO ANY TEMPORARY SYSTEM FAILURES.
7. CONTRACTOR INITIATED CHANGES
CHANGES SHALL BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING TO THE OWNER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO FABRICATION OR
CONSTRUCTION. CHANGES SHOWN ON SHOP DRAWINGS ONLY, WILL NOT SATISFY THIS REQUIREMENT.
8. SURVEYING
THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ALL CONSTRUCTION SURVEYING ON THIS PROJECT INCLUDING THE
PREPARATION OF COMPLETE AS —BUILT RECORDS. STAKING FOR GRADES AND ALIGNMENT SHALL BE PERFORMED BY AN
ENGINEERING OR SURVEYING FIRM LICENSED AND CAPABLE OF PERFORMING SUCH WORK.
9. TRAFFIC CONTROL NOTES
a. ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES SHALL MEET MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND CITY OF RENTON
REQUIREMENTS. ALL BARRICADES SHALL HAVE AMBER FLASHING LIGHTS FOR USE AT NIGHT.
b. WORK IN THE RIGHT OF WAY REQUIRES THE CONTRACTOR TO SUBMIT AN APPROVED TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN T THE
RENTON TRAFFIC CONTROL DIVISION.
CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN FOR OWNER'S APPROVAL PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK. TRAFFIC
CONTROL PLANS SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE OWNER AND SATISFY THE CONDITIONS OF THE RIGHT—OF—WAY
CONSTRUCTION PERMIT. CITY OF RENTON WILL REVIEW AND APPROVE THE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN AND ANY PROPOSED
LANE CLOSURES.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS TO ALL STREETS WITHIN AND ADJACENT TO THE
CONSTRUCTION SITES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE 48—HOUR NOTICE TO EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS WHICH MAY BE
AFFECTED BY ACTIONS OF THE CONTRACTOR.
AT NO TIME SHALL ACCESS TO ANY OF THE FACILITIES BE CLOSED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL LIMIT DELAY OF TRAFFIC TO 2 MINUTES.
10. ELECTRICAL NOTES
ALL CONDUIT SHALL BE INSTALLED BY A LICENSED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON,
