GENERAL NOTES:
1. ALL WORK AND MATERIALS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE 2006 EDITION OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD, BRIDGE AND MUNICIPAL
CONSTRUCTION (WSDOT/APWA) AS SUPPLEMENTED BY THE
PROJECT MANUAL FOR CITY OF RENTON DAYTON AVENUE NE
AND 22ND STREET DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT.
2. THE CURRENT EDITION OF THE CITY RENTON STANDARD PLANS
IS AVAILABLE AT RENTON CITY HALL.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS BEFORE STARTING
WORK AND SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ENGINEER OF ANY
DISCREPANCIES.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EMPLOY THE PROPER STANDARD OF
CARE FOR ALL WORK AROUND EXISTING OVERHEAD AND
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE FULLY
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROTECTION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES
IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 1-07.17 OF THE
SPECIFICATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL UTILITY
LOCATIONS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION BY CALLING THE
UNDERGROUND LOCATE LINE 1 -800-424-5555 A MINIMUM OF
3 WORKING DAYS BEFORE ANY EXCAVATION.
5. IN ORDER TO AVOID CONFLICT AND TO ALLOW FOR
ADJUSTMENTS TO BE MADE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL POTHOLE
EXISTING UTILITY LINES AS REQUIRED TO DETERMINE LOCATIONS
IN ADVANCE OF CONSTRUCTION. THIS WORK SHALL BE
INCIDENTAL TO OTHER BID ITEMS.
6. AT SOME LOCATIONS NEW FACILITIES AREA LOCATED IN VERY
CLOSE PROXIMITY TO EXISTING FIBER OPTIC LINES, WATER
LINES, STORM DRAINS, AND OTHER UTILITIES. THE LOCATION
OF THE UTILITIES ARE SHOWN ON THE PLAN AND PROFILE
VIEWS FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF THE CONTRACTOR AND ARE
BASED ON THE BEST INFORMATION AVAILABLE. THE LOCATION
OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOULD BE VIEWED AS APPROXIMATE.
IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY THE
HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL LOCATION OF AND TO PROTECT ALL
EXISTING UTILITIES. POT HOLING MAY BE REQUIRED. PRIOR TO
COMMENCING INSTALLATION OF NEW FACILITIES THE
CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO INFORM THE ENGINEER AT LEAST
48 HOURS IN ADVANCE, IN WRITING, OF ANY DISCREPANCIES
FOUND THAT WOULD IN ANY WAY AFFECT THE VERTICAL OR
HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT OF NEW CONVEYANCE FACILITIES AS
THEY ARE SHOWN ON THE PLAN.
7. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO
HAVE A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS ON CONSTRUCTION
SITE AT ALL TIMES.
8. PROVIDE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN(S) IN ACCORDANCE WITH
WSDOT/APWA SECTION 1-10.
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL DEVELOP A TEMPORARY UTILITY BYPASS
PLAN, AS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THE CONTRACTOR'S WORK
FOR WATER, SANITARY SEWER, STORMWATER, GAS, ELECTRICITY,
TELEPHONE AND/OR ALL OTHER UTILITIES (MAINS AND
SERVICES) AFFECTED BY PROJECT CONSTRUCTION. PLAN
SHALL ADDRESS CITY AND PROPERTY OWNER COORDINATION.
SUBMIT PLAN TO THE CONSTRUCTION REPRESENTATIVE FOR
APPROVAL PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
10. PRIOR TO BACKFILL, ALL PIPES AND APPURTENANCES SHALL
BE INSPECTED BY THE CITY'S CONSTRUCTION REPRESENTATIVE.
INSPECTION SHALL NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR FOR
CORRECTION OF ANY DEFICIENCIES AND/OR FAILURES AS
DETERMINED BY SUBSEQUENT TESTING AND INSPECTIONS.
11. UNDERGROUND FACILITIES SHALL BE CLEANED, TESTED, AND
APPROVED PRIOR TO PAVING IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE
SPECIFICATIONS.
12. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH CITY REGARDING
TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION EASEMENTS PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA.
13. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE CITY OF RENTON
POST MASTER FOR MAIL DELIVERY PROCEDURES DURING
CONSTRUCTION.
14. IF ANY NATIVE AMERICAN OR EUROPEAN GRAVE(S) OR
ARCHAEOLOGICAL/CULTURAL RESOURCES (INDIAN ARTIFACTS)
ARE FOUND, ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES SHALL STOP AND
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE CITY.

TEMPORARY EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL NOTES:
1. ALL TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION 12. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THESE TESC PLANS AND
CONTROL MEASURES REQUIRED FOR THE PROJECT SHALL BE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT, AND UPGRADING
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR. OF THESE TESC FACILITIES IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR UNTIL ALL CONSTRUCTION IS APPROVED.
2. EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE TAKEN BY THE
CONTRACTOR DURING CONSTRUCTION TO PREVENT SILT AND
DEBRIS FROM ENTERING THE EXISTING STORM DRAINAGE
FACILITIES AND WATERWAYS, IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE PLANS,
THE SPECIFICATIONS AND THE WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF
ECOLOGY STORM WATER MANAGEMENT MANUAL.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL DEVELOP AND SUBMIT A CONSTRUCTION
STORM WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PLAN (SWPPP) TO THE
ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. SWPPP
SHALL CONFORM WITH THE 2005 STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
MANUAL FOR WESTERN WASHINGTON, FEBRUARY 2005,
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY.
4. THE EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL MEASURES
PROVIDED FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROJECT ARE NOT
SHOWN ON THE PLANS BUT SHALL BE DETERMINED AND FIELD
LOCATED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO SUIT CONDITIONS AND TO
BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE CURRENT EDITION OF THE
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY STORMWATER
MANAGEMENT MANUAL FOR WESTERN WASHINGTON.
5. ALL REQUIRED EROSION/SEDIMENTATION CONTROL FACILITIES
MUST BE CONSTRUCTED AND IN OPERATION PRIOR TO LAND
CLEARING AND/OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION TO INSURE THAT
SEDIMENT LADEN WATER DOES NOT LEAVE THE SITE, ENTER
THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM OR VIOLATE APPLICABLE WATER
STANDARDS. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT FACILITIES SHALL
BE MAINTAINED IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION UNTIL SUCH
TIME THAT CLEARING AND/OR CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETED
AND POTENTIAL FOR ONSITE EROSION HAS PASSED. THE
IMPLEMENTATION, MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT AND ADDITIONS
TO EROSION/SEDIMENTATION CONTROL SYSTEMS SHALL BE THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
6. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIELD LOCATING
THE CLEARING LIMITS AND ESTABLISHING THOSE BOUNDARIES
WITH BRIGHT COLORED FLAGGING. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
CLEAR TO ONLY THOSE LIMITS AS ESTABLISHED, APPROVED BY
THE CITY'S CONSTRUCTION REPRESENTATIVE AND FLAGGED IN
THE FIELD. THE FLAGGING SHALL BE MAINTAINED BY THE
CONTRACTOR FOR THE DURATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION.
THE ENGINEER MAY DESIGNATE SPECIFIC TREES OR PLANTING
WITHIN THE CLEARING LIMITS TO BE SAVED. THOSE
DESIGNATED WILL BE FLAGGED WITH BRIGHT COLORED
FLAGGING OF A COLOR CONTRASTING FROM THE CLEARING
LIMITS FLAGGING.
7. IN ANY AREA WHICH HAS BEEN STRIPPED OF VEGETATION AND
WHERE NO FURTHER WORK IS ANTICIPATED FOR A PERIOD OF
30 DAYS OR MORE, ALL DISTURBED AREAS MUST BE
IMMEDIATELY STABILIZED WITH MULCHING, GRASS PLANTING OR
OTHER APPROVED EROSION CONTROL TREATMENT APPLICABLE
TO THE TIME OF YEAR IN QUESTION. GRASS SEEDING ALONE
WILL BE ACCEPTABLE ONLY DURING THE MONTHS OF APRIL
THROUGH SEPTEMBER, INCLUSIVE. SEEDING MAY PROCEED,
HOWEVER WHENEVER IT IS IN THE INTEREST OF THE
CONTRACTOR, BUT MUST BE AUGMENTED WITH MULCHING,
NETTING, EROSION BLANKETS OR OTHER APPROVED TREATMENT
OUTSIDE THE SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD.
8. DEWATERING WATER SHALL BE HANDLED TO ENSURE
DISCHARGE MEETS REGULATING WATER QUALITY STANDARDS.
DEWATERING DISCHARGE AND OTHER EROSION AND
STORMWATER CONTROL ACTIVITIES SHALL CONFORM TO AN
APPROVED CONSTRUCTION STORM WATER POLLUTION CONTROL
PLAN.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL A STABILIZED CONSTRUCTION
ENTRANCE IN ACCORDANCE WITH WSDOT STANDARD PLAN 1-14,
AT ALL PROPOSED PROJECT ACCESS SITES.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR STREET
CLEANING, STREET SWEEPING (ONSITE AND OFFSITE) UPON THE
DIRECTION OF THE ENGINEER TO UNDERTAKE THE MEASURES
DEEMED NECESSARY TO EFFECT SUCH CONTROL.
11. STORM DRAIN RUNOFF FROM THE CONSTRUCTION SITE SHALL
NOT AFFECT ADJACENT PROPERTIES. WHERE POSSIBLE,
MAINTAIN NATURAL VEGETATION FOR SILT CONTROL.

ONE CALL LOCATOR SERVICES SHALL BE CONTACTED PRIOR TO
ANY CONSTRUCTION OR SUBSURFACE EXPLORATION.
14. THE TESC FACILITIES SHALL BE INSPECTED AFTER EACH
CALL 1-800-424-5555 3 WORKING DAYS BEFORE ANY
STORM AND DAILY DURING PROLONGED RAINFALL BY THE
EXCAVATION.
