ABANDONMENT AND/OR REMOVAL OF EXISTING MAINS SHALL TAKE PLACE ONLY AFTER THE NEW MAIN OR WATER BYPASS SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED, TESTED, AND APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON. 2. MAIN SHUTDOWNS SHALL BE BY CITY MAINTENANCE STAFF ONLY. CUT -IN CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING MAINS SHALL ALSO BE PERFORMED BY CITY STAFF. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TWO WEEK ADVANCED NOTICE TO CITY FOR SCHEDULE OF CONNECTIONS AND SHUTDOWNS. 3. EXISTING SERVICE LINES, METER SETTERS, AND METER BOXES ARE TO BE REPLACED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT. EXISTING METERS ARE TO BE RESET WITHIN THE NEW SETTERS. COORDINATE W/CITY OF RENTON. 4. DEFLECT JOINTS AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL WATER MAIN WITH MINIMUM COVER ALONG THE APPROXIMATE LOCATION SHOWN. PIPE JOINTS NOT TO EXCEED 50 PERCENT OF THE MAXIMUM JOINT DEFLECTION SPECIFIED BY THE PIPE MANUFACTURER. 5. ABANDONED EXISTING WATER MAINS SHALL BE CAPPED WITH (MJ) CAPS. PORTIONS OF THE I ABANDONED WATER MAIN MAY REQUIRE REMOVAL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OTHER R-OADWAY1 IMPROVEMENTS. 6. EXISTING FIRE HYDRANTS SHALL BE REMOVED AND PROPERLY DISPOSED OF BY THE CONTRACTOR AFTER INSTALLATION, TESTING, AND APPROVAL OF THE NEW HYDRANTS. 7. VERIFY LOCATION AND DEPTH OF EXISTING WATER MAINS AT ALL CONNECTION POINTS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTiON. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL. FIELD VERIFY THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER (O.D.) OF ALL EXISTING CAST-IRON AND ASBESTOS -CEMENT PIPES, AND PROVIDE THE PROPER LONG -BODY ADAPTERS ERS AND TRANSITION COUPLINGS FOR THE FINAL CONNECTIONS BY CITY FORCES. CONNECTIONS TO ALL DUCTILE IRON PIPES SHALL BE MADE WITH LONG SOLID SLEEVE COUPLINGS (Mi). 8. ALL CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING WATER LINES SHALL BE MADE ONLY AFTER ALL THE NEW & , EST WATER LINES AND APPURTENANCES HAVE SUCCESS-1-U1.1.1-y PASSED A� L PRESSUR� C E - .;�L_ Lt. --. I I >�. CLEANED WITH POLY -PIGS, DISINFECTED WITH CHLORINE SOLI; ION, AND HAVE RECE-1VEDU SATISFACTORY BACTERIOLOGICAL TEST LAB REPORTS, AND ARE THOROUGHLY FLUSHED. 9. ELEVATIONS OF EXISTING CROSSING UTILITIES ARE PARTIALLY BASED ON RECORD DRAWING INFORMATION. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY LOCATIONS OF ALL UNDERGROUND EQUIPMENT PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION AND INFORM THE ENGINEER IF CONFLICT IS FOUND. 10. ALL WATER MAINS, FITTINGS, AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE INSTALLED PER CITY OF RENTON STANDARD DETAILS INCLUDED WITH PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS. 11. WATER PIPE AND FITTINGS INDICATED ON PLANS SHALL HAVE RESTRAINED JOINTS PER SPECIFICATIONS. SEE WATER PLANS, SHTS 132-141 AND WATER PROFILES, SHTS 146-159 FOR THESE LOCATIONS. I 12. PROVIDE 10' HORIZONTAL SEPARATION FROM PARALLEL SEWER LINES. WATER SHALL CROSS OVER EXISTING SEWER WITH 18" MINIMUM VERTICAL SEPARATION, WATER SHALL CROSS ALL OTHER UTILITIES WITH 12" MINIMUM VERTICAL SEPARATION. CONCRETE ENCASEMENT MAY BE NECESSARY WHERE THESE REQUIREMENTS CANNOT BE MET. 13. ALL WATER MAIN VERTICAL BENDS SHALL INCLUDE VERTICAL THRUST BLOCKING PER RENTON PLAN 330.3.
