Limitations: The presence of our field representative at the site is to provide our client with a source of professional advice, opinions, and recommendations based upon the field representative’s observations and testing of the contractor’s work. Our services do not include supervision or direction of the contractor, their employees, or agents. Geotechnical recommendations for
obtaining project objectives may be made by our representatives; however, direction of the actual work should come from the owner or contractor, as appropriate. The contractor is responsible
for complying with the contract documents at all times, regardless of the presence of our field representative. Jobsite safety, including compliance with all applicable state or federal regulations,
is the sole responsibility of the contractor. The observations, recommendations, and conclusions provided in this field report are preliminary until reviewed by the ESNW project manager.
ESNW rep was onsite to observe the Redi Rock wall keyway and drainage, well as storm tie in from
vault.
Redi Rock Wall Observations
ESNW rep was onsite to observe wall keyway. ESNW rep observed the contractor had excavated a
keyway approximately 5 feet in width into native grey silt with gravel. ESNW rep used a ½” steel T-probe
to probe the keyway and observed it to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for proposed Redi
Rock wall. ESNW rep also observed drainpipe along the back of the wall along the base. An 18” column
of drain rock was placed directly behind the wall blocks to the top of wall.
Storm Tie In
Upon arrival, ESNW rep observed the contractor excavating approximately 4’ deep into native soils to
place storm tie in. ESNW rep observed the contractor had backfilled with native tan sandy silt with
gravel. The contractor used a medium sized hoe pack to compact the soil with good effort. ESNW rep
took a compaction test and observed adequate compaction of at least 95% of the modified proctor at the
tested location.
