GENERAL INFORMATION
Terracon Consultants performed Inspection of high strength bolts for the City of Renton Gene Coulon Memorial
park Bridge at Redmond welders in Anacortes WA.
Inspection consisted of verification of the Turn of the Nut Tensioning as specified by the RCSC Bolt specification
and the Washington Department of transportation (WSDOT) Construction Specification.
The specification for the bolt installation and tensioning are noted on the General note 7 and Metals Fabrication
note 7 on drawing S-1.
Bolting was performed on the three major bridge members fabricated in the Anacortes facility. The members are
connected by Galvanized angle iron and Channel Iron members.
Inspection verified the installed 3/4” and 1” diameter bolts were fully tensioned using the turn of the nut method.
Inspection was performed by verification of Match Marks used in the Turn of the Not method as described in the
RCSC specification for high strength bolt.
Inspection of this bolting was found in compliance with the structural and shop drawings.
Jam nuts are planned to be installed at the erection site.
