1) What is the anticipated start date?
The City of Renton intends to begin the project mid November 2023.
2) Spec section 7-04.2(2) talks about temporary stormwater diversion and how the diversion
shall be capable of bypassing at least the 2-year peak flow during construction. What is the
2-year peak flow?
The answer to this question will be answered via Addendum #1.
3) Will stage 2 immediately begin after stage 1 is complete? Or will there be down time
between the two?
Yes, it is the City’s intent to begin stage 2 immediately following stage 1.
4) Will there be a point of connection for water if we choose to do a temp irrigation system?
No onsite point of connection to water will be provided by the City of Renton. However,
offsite connection to water from NE 4th St will be available to be routed along Jefferson Ave
NE to the site.
5) On the Certificate of Reistration Form are you just asking for our contractor’s license
number?
Yes, the contractor’s license number is what the City is requesting.
6) Please confirm infiltration backfill underneath the stormwater infiltration facility (the 12”
below), fill as embedment gravel between chambers and the 1-foot of fill above the
stormwater infiltration is being paid under Bid Item B4 and not bid item C20.
Yes, all infiltration backfill is paid per bid item B4. C20 includes the installation and
compaction (not material costs) of the embedment and 12” top rock, as it will be different
compaction requirements than the rest of the infiltration backfill.
7) Bid item C8 has a bid qty of 80 LF. I’m coming up with 395 LF. Please confirm.
The manifold pipes are not included in bid item C8. The manifold pipes are included in the
lump sum bid item C20 for the stormwater infiltration facility. The quantity provided in bid

item C8 is accurate. Clarification to this question will be answered via Addendum #1. (To be
issued shortly)
8) Are you able to advise the detailed information for the new lighting pole and fixture(s) that
is to be provided and installed for bid item C30 for this upcoming project? Special provision
section 1-09.14(2)C27 only lists it is to be a 40’ decorative pole per standard plan 117.1 and
section 8-20.1 just refers to Renton standards 117.1, 117.1A, 119 & 120. The required
luminaire arm lengths & fixture information aren’t noted and don’t appear to be included in
the project plans.
The light pole shall meet the specifications per COR Std Plan 117.1, which is provided in the
Standard Details section of the bid package.
The luminaire arm length will be provided in Addendum No 2 (to be posted shortly to City
website and BXWA).
The fixture information is provided in the COR Std Plans, see Standard Details section of the
bid package for details.

Yes, it is the City’s intention that the covered stockpiled material onsite is to be used during
dry weather and when it meets the conditions outlined Special Provisions section 2-03.

Bid: Question & Answer
14) Will the materials used for the infiltration gravel and select borrow have to meet the
gradations found in their respective special provisions?
Yes.
15) A request has been made to change the gradation for AASHTO 3 and 4 rock. The spec asks
for 0% passing the #100 screen which may be challenging to acquire. It has been expressed
that there is a concern fugitive dust could impact gradation testing.
The current provided gradation for the AASHTO 3 and 4 rock per Special Provision Section
9-03.16 Infiltration Gravel is the City’s requirement for this project to ensure the facility
functions as designed. If the material is handled, stored, and placed appropriately per the
special provisions then minor fugitive dust accumulation will not be an issue for the
project. However, I want to emphasize that the material must be handled, stored, and
placed correctly.
16) Will the City provide the names of suppliers that would source the infiltration gravel or
select borrow, and how much volume they have available?
The City is aware of a least one local supplier with sufficient volume of the specified
materials, but we cannot disclose their identity due to public works laws.
17) Is Builders Risk insurance required for this project?
No.
18) Special provisions for the select borrow have the No. 40 called out as a 25 min. The WSDOT
spec has the No. 40 as 50 max. Was the special provisions select borrow supposed to be 25
max instead of 25 min?
The table outlined in Special Provision Section 9-03.14(2) “Select Borrow” is accurate as
shown.
