The responses may be considered along with all other information furnished to prospective bidders for the purpose of bidding on the project. The use of information provided in the responses to bidder inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions nor excuse the contractor from full compliance with the contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given and any such subsequent response or addenda should be taken into consideration when submitting a bid for the project. Questions and Answers No. 1 1. Question: Is there a need for portable restrooms and temporary fencing during construction? Answer: Contractor shall provide portable restroom facilities for project personnel. As for fencing, contractor shall provide tree protection area during removal and replacement of sidewalk. Refer to Section 2-05 in the Special Provisions. 2. Question: 1. The decorative pedestrian pole foundation refers you to city of Renton standard 117.2. It shows depth of foundation per the structural analysis, minimum 4 feet. What is the depth required for the foundations? Please advise. 2. Are you requiring a slip casing for the decorative luminaire pole foundations? 3. Luminaire 6 appears to have a constructability issue. The 9 ft foundation and pole are within the tree protection area. Please advise. Answer: 1. Refer to Sheet S1.01 of the Construction Plans for foundation depth. 2. Temporary slip casing is allowed per Section 8-20.3(4) of the Special Provisions. 3. Contractor shall notify Project Manager prior to scheduling the work. Project Manager will require the City Arborist be present during excavation. 3. Question: Can you please help me with what the liquidated damages are on this project. I can’t seem to find the rate or formula. Thanks. Answer: Refer to 2022 WSDOT Specifications, Section 1-08.9 Liquidated Damages 4. Question: I see the plans call out asphalt planing but can’t find what bid item this work is paid under. Is the asphalt planing incidental to removals of structures and obstructions? 2 of 2 Answer: Asphalt Planing is incidental to Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay HMA Cl. ½ Inch PG 58H-22. An addendum will be issued to make this clearer. 5. Question: Will the City require disposal of streetlights? Answer: Existing streetlights shall be removed and delivered to City’s Maintenance Shop, only after new lights have been installed and are operational. End of Questions and Answers No. 1
