HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 6117CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 6117 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 8-5-15.D OF THE RENTON MUNICIPAL CODE, ESTABLISHING THE KING COUNTY METRO WASTEWATER PASS THROUGH RATE FOR 2024, AUTHORIZING CORRECTIONS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. All portions of the Renton Municipal Code in this ordinance not shown in strikethrough and underline edits or are not explicitly repealed herein remain in effect and unchanged. SECTION II. Section 8-5-15.D of the Renton Municipal Code is amended as follows: 8-5-15 SEWER CHARGES: D. Additional Charges: In addition to the foregoing charges specified in this Section, the following rates shall be charged, in accordance with the Interlocal Agreement with King County Wastewater: 1. Single-family dwelling units: Single -Family Residential: 2023 Rate 2024 Rate King County $52.11 $52 11 55.11 Wastewater Charge King County Rate $0.00 $0.00 Adjustment Charge 2. All users other than single-family: 1 ORDINANCE NO. 6117 All Users Other Than 2023 2024 Rate Single -Family: Rate King County $52.11 $52.11$55.11 Wastewater Charge — Minimum Charge includes 750 Cubic Feet usage charge King County $6.95 $6-.95 7.35 Wastewater Charge — Per each additional 100 Cubic Feet usage charge over 750 Cubic Feet King County Rate $0.00 $0.00 Adjustment Charge 3. Any additional charges hereafter imposed by King County Wastewater under the "Industrial Cost Recovery" or "Industrial Waste Surcharge" programs required under the FWPCA (PL 92-500), Section 204, or as same may be amended hereafter, plus fifteen percent (15%) thereof as an additional charge for the City's cost of implementing such programs. 4. Senior and/or disabled low-income rates: a. Senior and/or disabled citizens who qualify under RMC 8-4-31.0 for low-income rates prior to May 31, 2008, are eligible for a seventy-five percent (75%) subsidy of City sewer charges and a nonsubsidized rate for the King County Wastewater charge in accordance with the Interlocal Agreement with King County Wastewater: 2 ORDINANCE NO. 6117 Low-income Rates 2023 2024 Rate Qualified prior to Rate May 31, 2008 King County $52.11 55.11 Wastewater Charge Non -subsidized King County Rate $0.00 $0.00 Adjustment Charge City Sewer Charge $8.17 $8.42 75% subsidy b. All other senior and/or disabled citizens qualifying under RMC 8-4-31.0 for low-income rates after May 31, 2008, are eligible for a fifty percent (50%) subsidy for City sewer charges and a nonsubsidized rate for the King County Wastewater charge in accordance with the Interlocal Agreement with King County Wastewater: Low-income Rates 2023 2024 Rate Qualify After May 31, Rate 2008 King County $52.11 t 55.11 Wastewater Charge Non -subsidized King County Rate $0.00 $0.00 Adjustment Charge City Sewer Charge $16.35 $16.84 50% Subsidy SECTION III. These rates become effective with billings computed on or after January 1, 2024 for the 2024 rates. SECTION IV. Upon approval of the City Attorney, the City Clerk is authorized to direct the codifier to make necessary corrections to this ordinance, including the corrections of scriveners or clerical errors; references to other local, state, or federal laws, codes, rules, or 3 ORDINANCE NO. 6117 regulations; or ordinance numbering and section/subsection numbering and references. The City Clerk is further authorized to direct the codifier to update any chapter, section, or subsection titles in the Renton Municipal Code affected by this ordinance. SECTION V. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality thereof shall not affect the constitutionality of any other section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance. SECTION VI. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after publication of a summary of this ordinance in the City's official newspaper.
