ED98990 CASE# 23-10620 OF COLLISION 09/14/23 19:58 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 23-10620 Hit and Run with minor injuries Axon: Axon body and car video available Documents: Sector Collision Sector Citation #3A0004542 for Hit and Run Attended, referred to Renton Municipal Prosecutor Queue Sector Infraction #3a0004543 Operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance and Fail to Obey Traffic Control device. I requested that both be mailed by the court. Narrative: On 09.14.2023 at 2007 hours, I was dispatched to a blocking injury hit and run collision which occurred at 1958 hours in the intersection of Hardie AVE SW and SW Sunset Blvd. This address is within the city limits of Renton, County of King, WA. This is a 5-street intersection. Hardie AVE SW at this point travels North to South. SW Sunset Blvd travels southwest to northeast. SW Langston Rd ends at this intersection between Hardie AVE SW and SW Sunset and runs northwest to southeast. Witnesses were able to provide a license plate for the suspect vehicle a silver 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe WA/BTF2264. Witnesses followed this vehicle to 176 Hardie AVE SW which also happens to be where it is registered. I asked Officer Bowie and Sgt. Kordel to attempt contact at that address for the suspect vehicle. When I arrived at 2014 hours, Renton Fire was already on location. They treated and released the driver/patient of a black 2017 Hyundai Sonata 4dr WA/BGF3406. This vehicle was in the north thru lane headed northwest and was disabled due to the damage. The side airbags in the vehicle were deployed. I advised everyone in the area that our contact was recorded. I spoke to witnesses Shane D Merritt DOB/08.26.89 and Hannah M Hedrick DOB/06.07.1990 who were in the same car on Hardie AVE SW They both told me a similar story. They were waiting at a red light behind a silver or gold Chevrolet Tahoe on Hardie AVE SW. The traffic on SW Sunset had a green light. As the black Hyundai Sonata Wa/BGF3406 approached the light, the Chevrolet Tahoe WA/BTF2264 entered the intersection and struck the Hyundai. The Tahoe continued north on Hardie AVE SW. The driver made no attempt to check on the welfare of the occupants of the Hyundai or exchange information. Merritt followed the vehicle to 176 Hardie AVE SW and could see that someone was outside of the car checking the front for damage but didn't see who the driver was. I spoke to Witness Maria Cardenas. She was also on Hardie and saw that there was a green light for traffic on SW Sunset Blvd. Cardenas also saw the Tahoe enter the intersection on Hardie AVE SW headed north when it had a red light, strike the black Hyundai and leave without stopping. She did not see the driver of the Tahoe. I advised Officer Bowie that no one could identify the driver. I spoke with Tisha S Peterson DOB/08.07.1973. Peterson was the driver and sole occupant of a black 2017 Hyundai Sonata 4dr Wa/BGF3406. Peterson told me that when she turned onto SW Sunset Blvd from Rainier AVE S, the light was green at Hardie AVE SW so she didn't slow. She was in the north lane headed northwest. When she entered the intersection, she was struck by a silver Chevrolet Tahoe that was traveling north on Hardie AVE SW. Peterson is the registered owner of her vehicle. Peterson provided photo WADL and has valid DOL status. Peterson provided proof of insurance and registration. Peterson complained of pain to her neck, her left wrist and left arm. She was treated and released by Renton Fire. Officer Bowie advised via radio that he was out with the registered owner. Officer Bowie also called me and told me that he was with registered owner Freddy Mota Delgado. Mota Delgado was difficult but ended up telling Officer Bowie that he was driving when someone hit him in the intersection of PAGE 4 OF 6 REPORT NO. ED98990 CASE# 23-10620 OF COLLISION 09/14/23 19:58 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE Hardie AVE SW and SW Sunset Blvd. I later pulled up a DOL photo of Mota Delgado. When I brought him an exchange of information, the male matched the photo for Mota Delgado. His DOL status is valid. He does not have insurance. Mota Delgado advised Officer Bowie that his daughter, Rosa Mota Montez DOB/07.24.2016 was in the rear passenger seat in a front facing booster seat. Neither of them are injured. Peterson's vehicle was towed by Gene Meyers. I took an exchange of information to Mota Delgado. He was on his phone and too busy to speak with me. The exchange was given to his wife. I told her that any tickets would come in the mail. Based on all this information I find there to be probable cause for the following: Hit and Run Attended, Operating a Motor Vehicle without insurance, and Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device (signal). I issued Sector Citation #3A0004542 for Hit and Run Attended, referred to Renton Municipal Prosecutor Queue. I issued Sector Infraction #3a0004543 Operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance and Fail to Obey Traffic Control device. I requested that both be mailed by the court.
