WiththeexceptionoftheBridgeClosurePeriodsdescribedabove,theContractorshall maintainaminimumofthree(3)lanesoftraveloverthebridge,two(2)inthesouth/west bounddirection(towardsdowntown)andone(1)north/eastbounddirection. IftheEngineerdeterminesthatanylaneclosureisnotwarranted(e.g.duetoalackof constructionactivities,etc.),theContractorshallreͲopenthelane(s),asdirectedbythe Engineer. ReasonforChange: ThisChangeOrderdoesnotincludeasignificantchangeasdefinedinSection1Ͳ04.4sincethe characteroftheWorkdoesnotdiffermateriallyinkindornaturefromthatinvolvedorincluded intheoriginalproposedconstruction.Specifically,increasingthenumberofBridgeClosure Periods,thetotalnumberoffullbridgeclosuredays,andchangingConstructionSignsClassAto ConstructionSignsClassB,exceptfortheAdvancedConstructionNotificationsigns. Theprimarypurposeforthischangewastoaccommodatethetimerequiredforprocurementof thebridgebearingpads.OnJuly22,2022,theconstructioncontractwasfullyexecuted.On August17,2022,thefirstsubmittalwasreceivedfortheproject.Thissubmittalwasforthe elastomericbearingpadsandassociatedhardware.OnSept.8,2022,thePreͲConMeetingwas held.Atthattime,theprocurementtimefortheelastomericpadswasestimatedtobea minimumoffour(4)months,uponreviewandapprovalofthesubmittal.Thiswouldplace deliveryofthebearingsintoDecember2022orJanuary2023. ChangeOrderNo.____3_____ ContractNo.:CAGͲ22Ͳ062 ContractTitle:BronsonWayBridgeͲSeismicRetrofitandPainting ProjectNo.:TED4004020Page5of6 ThefocusatthePreͲConwasonthecleaningandpaintingportionofthework.Thesubcontractorwasreadyandavailabletocleanandpaintthebridge.Thesubcontractorrequestedafullbridgeclosuretoprovidesufficientspaceforalltheequipmentrequiredforthework.Afullclosureofthebridgewasnotoriginallyanticipatedforcleaningandpaintingandthiswasreflectedintheconstructioncontract.Giventhetimeofyear,weatherconditionswerebecomingafactorforpaintingthebridge.Thechoicewasbetweenstartingworkinfall2022tocompletethecleaningandpaintingactivitiesandthensuspendingtheremainingworkuntilspring2023;orwaituntil spring2023tostartconstruction,whenfavorableweatherconditionsreturnedafterthewinter. Choosingtheformerresultsinaneedtosetupthetemporarytrafficcontrolsignage,twotimes insteadofone.TheoriginalcontractrequiredalltemporarytrafficcontrolsignstobeClassA. ClassAsignsaretobemountedonposts.Installingandremovingsignspostsinfall2022and againinspring2023wasnotpracticalorcosteffective.ClassBsignsaretobemountedontripods orothertemporarystands. TheCitydecidedtocompletethecleaningandpaintingworkinfall2022andsuspendthe remainingworkuntilspring2023.WiththeexceptionoftheAdvancedConstructionNoticesigns shownonDrawingNo.21,allothertemporarytrafficcontrolsignsdesignatedinthecontractas ClassAwerechangedtoClassB.OnSeptember18,2022,aNoticetoProceedwasissued.On September23,2023thetemporarytrafficcontrolwasplacedandtheBronsonWayBridgewas closed.OnOctober14,2023theBronsonWayBridgewasreopeneduponcompletionofthe cleaningandpaintingactivities,thetemporarytrafficcontrolsignswereremovedandthe contractwassuspended.ThebearingsweredeliveredtothecontractorinFebruary2023.On May15,2023,thetemporarytrafficcontrolwasplacedandtheBronsonWayBridgewasclosed asecondtimetocompletetheremainingcontractwork.OnJuly12,2023,theBronsonWay Bridgewasreopenedandthetemporarytrafficcontrolsignswereremoved.
