HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation - Added - Mary Ellen StoneArmondoPavoneMayorMTHEREAS,MaryEllenStonehasdedicated43yearsofherlifeasaleaderinthefightagainstsexualassault,servingasthedrivingforcebehindthedevelopmentandgrowthoftheKingCountySexualAssaultResourceCenter(KCSARC),locatedinRenton;andMTHEREAS,MaryEllen’scommitment,passion,andtirelesseffortshaveplayedapivotalroleinestablishingandstrengtheningKCSARCintoawell-respectedandcomprehensiveproviderofsupportiveservicesforsurvivorsofsexualassaultandtheirfamilies;andMTHEREAS,MaryEllen’sleadership,vision,andunwaveringtenacityhavebeeninstrumentalinshapingKCSARCintothevibrantandstrongnonprofitorganizationitistoday,makingalastingimpactonthelivesofcountlesssurvivorsandthecommunityatlarge;andWHEREAS,MaryEllen’sknowledgeandexpertisehaveprovidedcompassionateandeffectivesupporttocountlesssurvivors;andWhEREAS,MaryEllen’scommitmenttocommunityinvolvementandadvocacyisevidentthroughherparticipationinvariousboardsandcommittees,includingLeadershipTomorrow,theAlkiFoundation,theSeattleArchdioceseReviewBoard,andherpastinvolvementwiththeMentalIllnessDrugDependenceOversightBoard,theSeattleChiefofPoliceSearchCommittee,theWashingtonCoalitionofSexualAssaultPrograms,theSexOffenderManagementCommittee,theWomen’sFundingAlliance,andtheMunicipalLeagueSeattle-KingCounty;andWHEREAS,MaryEllen’sretirementleavesbehindasignificantlegacyoftransformativeleadershipwithinKCSARCandtheCityofRentonaspartofthebroaderKingCountycommunity;andNOMITHEREFORE,I,ArmondoPavone,MayoroftheCityofRenton,doherebyproclaimthat,asacommunity,weextendourdeepestgratitudeandheartfeltappreciationtoMaryEllenforherexceptionalcontributionstothefieldofsurvivorsupportservicesandherdedicatedservicetoKingCountySexualAssaultResourceCenter;andBEITFURTHERPROCLAIMEDthatwerecognizeMaryEllen’sindomitablespirit,compassion,andcommitment,whichhavemadeaprofounddifferenceinthelivesofsurvivorsandtheirfamilies,andwewishherafulfillingretirement.IN‘WITNESSTHEREOF,IhavehereuntosetmyhandandcausedthesealoftheCityofRentontobeaffixedthis13thdayofNovember2023.Armondone,MayorCityofRnto,WashingtonPROCLAMATIONRentonCityHall,7thFloor1055SouthGradyWay,Renton,WA98057.rentonwa.gov
