Station Naming Policy Update (R2021 -14)
Additional Criteria
•Prioritize wayfinding = geography
•Regional names useful for end-of-line stations
•Process = Internal > Public > Board Action
•Renaming guidance –10 yr. min and/or with expansion
•Corporate & Memorial naming not allowed
Station names must be considered based on
their adherence to the following principles:
•Avoid redundancy
•Be appropriate
•Be accessible
•Be intuitive
•Be easily implemented
•Reflect geography: avoid corporate &
honorific names
•Be brief & easy to remember: 1 -3 word /26
character limit
Priorities for potential names. Bus Rapid
Transit station names should be chosen in
this order:
1.Transit facility where the station is located
2.Street or intersection where the station is
located

serving 26 stations over 34 miles of track.
•Opening in phases.
o South Bellevue–Redmond Technology
(2024).
o Lynnwood–Downtown Redmond (2025).
•12 new stations in Seattle (1), Mercer
Island (1), Bellevue (6), and Redmond (4).
