Re: Appointment to the Airport Advisory Committee
Dear Mr. Dineen:
At the regular Council meeting of July 15, 2019, the Renton City Council concurred in your appointment
by Mayor Denis Law to the Airport Advisory Committee (South Renton Neighborhood—Alternate) for
an unexpired term expiring on May 7, 2020. Congratulations on your appointment. Your service on the
Committee is sincerely appreciated and valued by City officials and staff.
Effective July 1, 2014 every member of the governing body or public agency must complete Open Public
Meetings Act training within 90 days of taking the oath of office (if required) or assuming his or her
duties as a public official. Refresher training is required at intervals of no more than four years as long
as the individual is a member of the governing body or public agency(RCW 42.30.205). Washington
State Attorney General Opinion 1986 No. 16 defines "governing body" to include committees appointed
by the governing body. Therefore, the City of Renton is interpreting that this regulation applies to all
boards and commission members.
In order to comply with this regulation we are requesting that all boards and commission members view
a short training video provided by the Attorney General's Office. Please visit
http://rentonwa.gov/cityclerk and select Lesson 1—Open Public Meetings Act. After viewing the video
please fill out the attached Certificate of Training and return the form no later than September 18,
2019.

Advisory Committee's Vacant South Renton Neighborhood
Alternate Position
The Renton Airport Advisory Committee's (RAAC)South Renton Neighborhood Alternate
position is currently vacant. Following an application process and interviews by the
Airport Manager and Committee Chair,the Public Works Department would like to
recommend Mr.Jeff Dineen be appointed to the RAAC. This recommendation is based
on specific criteria he meets for the recommended position:
Applicant: Jeff Dineen
Position Recommendation: South Renton Neighborhood Alternate
Term Expiration Date: May 7, 2020
The South Renton Neighborhood Alternate position requires that it be held by a resident
of that neighborhood who has shown an interest in serving on the RAAC. Mr. Dineen is
being recommended for this position based on his experience as South Renton
Neighborhood Association President, his deep background in sciences and his interest in
working to improve noise and pollution impacts from airport operations. The Public
Works Department recommends the appointment of Mr. Dineen to the South Renton
Neighborhood Alternate position with a term expiration date of May 7, 2020.
The Renton Airport continues to accept applications for the Renton Airport Advisory
Committee vacancies.
