Define the existing standard or design criteria requiring MEF documentation.
The cross slope of a curb ramp cannot exceed 2%.
The running slope of a curb ramp cannot exceed 8.33%.
Describe why the proposed improvements cannot meet the existing standards.
Since the ramp is mid- block, it is subject to existing slope of the road at 4% thus cannot be
reduced to 2%
The proposed sidewalk has been sloped at 4.8% with a landing at the start of the ramp. To not
exceed this running slope and to protect the existing trees to remain, the slope of the ramp
exceeds 8.33%
