Define the existing standard or design criteria requiring MEF documentation.
The cross slope of a curb ramp cannot exceed 2%.
The running slope of a curb ramp cannot exceed 8.33%.
Describe why the proposed improvements cannot meet the existing standards.
Multiple design alternatives were explored with the City of Renton for this ramp and none of the
alternatives created a ramp that was better in compliance than the existing. The running slope of a
curb ramp exceed 8.33% and the cross slope of the ramp exceeds 2% due to existing roadway
slope around curb return that forces the ADA ramp to not meet accessible compliance.
