Subject: Hydrogeologic Assessment
Rainier Dog Resort & Spa
900 South Grady Way
Renton, Washington
Greetings:
In accordance with your request, Earth Solutions NW, LLC (ESNW) has prepared this letter
summarizing our hydrogeologic assessment performed for the subject property.
Project Description
Based on review of the referenced plans provided to us, site modifications will be limited to minor
landscaping elements. Specifically, areas along the site border will be converted from either
gravel surface or asphaltic pavement to landscaping to provide a visual screen. At this time and
to the best of our knowledge, no additional structural or grading modifications are planned.
Surface
The subject site is located in the northern corner of the intersection between Williams Avenue
South and South Grady Way in Renton, Washington. Topography across the site is essentially
level. The site is occupied by a one-story building, asphalt pavement and areas of gravel
surfacing. A concrete sidewalk is present along the site frontage areas.
Geologic Setting
The site is underlain predominately by younger alluvial deposits consisting of relatively permeable
sand, silt and gravel with occasional peat beds. Using the referenced Washington Geologic
Information database, we identified a series of borings completed several blocks to the west
around 1999. These borings confirm the presence of younger alluvial deposits and a relatively
shallow groundwater table.

Hydrologic Assessment
ESNW visited the site in January 2024 to observe current surface conditions. We understand no
grading or modifications to site soils are planned for this project. The project scope is limited to
converting some hardscape areas to landscape. No significant change in use is planned. In this
respect, no increased risk of adverse impacts to the local groundwater quality will result from the
proposed project.
Based on review of the referenced Aquifer Protection Areas (APA) map maintained by the city of
Renton, the site is located within a Zone 2 protection area. A copy of the APA map illustrating
the approximate site location is attached. Section 4-3-050 provides prohibited activities for
various wellhead protection zones. Based on our understanding of the project scope, no
prohibited activities listed for Zone 2 will occur on this site.
Opinion and Recommendations
Based on the information we have been able to review, and our understanding of the project
scope, no adverse impacts to the local groundwater table will result from the project. Prohibited
activities detailed in Zone 2 Wellhead Protection Areas code should apply to this project. We
recommend the site be managed and protected using typical best management practices (BMPs)
such as keeping the surface areas clean and disposing of litter and waste in accordance with
applicable code requirements.
In our opinion, provided applicable BMPs are incorporated into the project scope and business
management practices, no adverse impacts to the local groundwater will occur. Based on the
limited scope of the project and no significant change in use, in our opinion, no additional
prohibitions or requirements will be required above those outlined in the Zone 2 code section.
Limitations
The recommendations and conclusions provided in this assessment are professional opinions
consistent with the level of care and skill that is typical of other members in the profession
currently practicing under similar conditions in this area. A warranty is not expressed or implied.
