SUMMARY OF ACTION: Request concurrence with Park Commissioners' recommendation to expand membership from five (5) to seven (7) committee members. The Park Board was formed in the 1950s, an ordinance was passed in 1974 defining the membership numbers. Our programs have greatly expanded over the last 20 years The Board is a powerful means of securing and building support for future programs and services while serving as a liaison with other public, private and volunteer groups. When limited to 5 members we are unable to divide into subcommittees to cover the many new projects currently in progress. MEMC};ANDUM T0: `',,,n+--- - c FROM: Bifl Hutsinpiller ,( DATE: May 16, 1994 SUBJECT: Park Board Meeting At their May 10th meeting the Renton Park Board recommended an expansion of the number af Park Board Commissioners from 5 members ta 7. They feel this additian would pravide better representation of the city as it continues to graw and would assist in maintaining a quorum at our Park Board meetings. We have had periodic difficulty in having a quorum present to conduct business due ta illness or personal commitments. In addition, there have been times when additional input would have been he(pful in dealing with a subjec#. We have forwarded an agenda bill to the clerk's affice and arry Warren has amended the original ordinance to reflect this suggested change. ffyave , . r ! - CITY UF RENTUN "' Office of the City Attomey.
