ABOUT NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE In 2009, Congress officially designated September 11 as National Day of Service and Remembrance, and President Obama called for all Americans to participate in our Nation’s recovery and renewal efforts by serving their community, and showing our Nations’ true strength in coming together in times of uncertainty to help others; the way many brave citizens did during and following September 11. According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, it is projected that over 1 million citizens across the US will participate in the National Day of Service and answer the President’s call to serve and honor all those impacted by the attacks.
