NARRATIVE
Renton Case #24-00061
On /1/02/2024 at 1545 hours I was dispatched to the intersection of SW 7th St/Powell Ave SW in the
City of Renton, King County, Washington. I was responding to a call of an unknown injury, blocking
motor vehicle collision. This incident was captured on my body worn video camera. This report is a
summation of events that occurred and is not an exact sequence of events.
Upon arrival I observed both Unit 1 and Unit 2 blocking the eastbound lanes of travel at the above
mentioned intersection. Unit 1 had sustained major front-end damage and Unit 2 had sustained major
right-side damage.
In speaking with Unit 2 driver, he stated he was traveling eastbound on SW 7th St when Unit 1 failed
to stop at a stop sign, resulting in the collision. In the vehicle with Unit 2 driver was his 7-year old
daughter. Fire arrived on scene and evaluated them both. No apparent injuries were noted.
Unit 2 driver stated that the driver of Unit 1 exited his vehicle and ran away from the scene, traveling
southbound on Powell Ave SW. The driver of Unit 1 was described as a black male, wearing a black
shirt and black pants. Responding officers performed an area check, looking for the driver of Unit 1,
with negative results.
I spoke with two witness' who were on scene of the collision. Both stated that the driver of Unit 1 was
traveling north on Powell Ave SW and as he approached SW 7th St, ran the stop sign, resulting in the
collision with Unit 2.
The accounts from both Unit 2 driver and the witness' on scene were consistent with the vehicle
damage noted on scene. I took photographs of the sustained damage to both vehicles and later
uploaded them to Axon Evidence.
Gene Meyer Towing was dispatched and removed both vehicles from the roadway.
I provided Unit 2 driver a business card, case number, answered his remaining questions and then
cleared the scene.
