Dear Ms. Walter
The City of Renton has reviewed your letter dated September 10,2001,regarding the
Muckleshoot Indian Tribe's concern about the cumulative loss of wood recruitment to the Cedar
River due to potential removal of"two to three big leaf maple trees" (i.e. 40-to 60-inch diameter)
as part of the above noted project. The City of Renton shares your concern about the large
diameter trees. As such,the final construction plans for the project were designed to ensure that
none of these large diameter trees(two maples and one cottonwood)would be removed. I have
included a copy of the final, signed construction plans for documentation.
In addition, seven smaller diameter trees(4-to 14-inch)that will be removed from the golf course
"rough" area as part of the regrading will be replanted on the golf course as part of this project.
The trees that are to be removed and replaced are all located north of the existing golf cart path
(see construction drawings)and about 100 feet from the river.
Further no trees or shrubs that were planted along the Cedar River right bank(facing
downstream)as part of the Maplewood Revetment Mitigation Project(as part of the USACE
Cedar River Section 205 Flood Damage Project)will be impacted as these plants/shrubs are
outside the project boundary. I have included a table below that identifies all trees within the
project area and whether they are to be protected or removed/replaced.

Dear Mr. Schimek:
The King County Wastewater Treatment Division has reviewed the Notice of
Application and Proposed Determination of Non-Significance for the Maplewood Golf
Course Regrade project, dated August 1, 2001. King County's Cedar River Trunk,
Section 3, is located within the proposed work area. In order to protect this wastewater
facility, King County is requesting that the City of Renton do the following:
• Submit construction drawings for the project to Eric Davison in the King County
Wastewater Treatment Division, CIP-Civil/Architectural Section, MS KSC-NR-0508
at the address above, for review during design development so that King County staff
can assess the project's impacts. Please contact Eric Davison at(206) 684-1707.
• Contact Eric Davison at(206) 684-1707 a minimumn of 72 hours prior to
commencing any construction in order to allow staff time to arrange for a King
County inspector to be on the site during construction.
