Subject:Raise the Wage Petition
Hi everyone,
I spoke to King County elections and they agreed with our interpretation that undated/expired signatures do not count.
Any signatures that are undated/expired (signed before March 1, 2023) will be pre-challenged. This means they will be
excluded before they start counting the rest of the signatures and will be noted as such on the first report they provide
after they start their verification process. I expect the first report to be posted by Wednesday 9/27.
According to my initial research, approximately 2,300 signatures will likely be disqualified for being undated/expired.
I also want to point out that although the petitioners submitted petition forms that could have included about 15,124
signatures, the actual count after removing undated, expired, and blank signature lines is closer to 12,000 signatures. I
will update everyone after I receive any additional petition sheets.
I am also reaching out to the petitioners today to set a time to submit any additional signatures prior to the date on the
newest terminal letter King County sent us last Friday. If you have any questions, please let me know.
