I am the immediate neighbor to lot 5 to the South across the street from the planned Maple Highlands subdivision. In addition to the benefit to me of having a closer neighbor on that side to deter theft (I anticipate increased theft from my 'back yard' once the new SE 5th is in place), the reduction of the 30 ft setback to 20 ft will also be an advantage to the future residents of both lot 5 and lot 6 as is provide increased privacy and separation for them. Overall, although those of us 'old farts' that bought 'rural' acreage over 50 years ago would have liked it to stay 'rural' for our lifetimes, increased density in inevitable. I feel fortunate that a quality developer such as Conner Homes with very cooperative representatives such as Dalton Smith are doing the development. In conclusion, I whole heatedly approve of a variance to reduce the side yard of lot 5. Art Brockschmidt.
