ED61374 CASE# 23-5045 OF COLLISION 05/04/23 16:27 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 23-5045 On 05/04/2023 at approximately 1629 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking vehicle collision at the intersection of Lind Ave SW and SW 41st ST, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. Upon my arrival, 1 confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response at the time of report. There, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1 said she was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was traveling westbound in about the 500 block of SW 41st ST and approaching the intersection of Lind Ave SW in lane 3 of 3 (left-turn lane). The driver of Unit#1 stated that she needed to get into the thru lane (lane 2 of 3) to get to Ikea which was just west of the above-mentioned intersection. The driver of Unit#1 stated that when she began to merge over to the adjacent lane next to her, specifically making a lane change from lane 3 of 3 to lane 2 of 3, Unit#1 struck Unit#2 occupying lane 2 of 3 causing minor damage to the passenger side of Unit#1. The driver of Unit#2 said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was also traveling westbound in about the 500 block of SW 41 st ST approaching the intersection of Lind Ave SW but in lane 2 of 3. The driver of Unit#2 stated he was intending to continue straight when Unit#1 changed lanes from lane 3 of 3 and into lane 2 of 3 which Unit#2 was occupying. Unit#2 was unable to avoid the collision and subsequently collided with Unit#1. Unit#2 suffered moderate damage to the front driver's side because of the collision. A witness, identified as Darren Decker, confirmed the above statements and claimed that Unit#2 had come to a complete stop when Unit#1 merged over into Unit#2's lane. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Delia) was the predominant factor for the collision as Delia made an unsafe lane change that was not clear of traffic causing a collision. I cited Delia in-person for Improper Lane Usage as Delia should have confirmed that the lane she was intending to merge into was clear of hazard. Delia also admitted to not having insurance as she had recently gone through a divorce and minimized expenses. Delia was also cited in-person for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance. Unit#1 was able to be driven away without further incident. Unit#2 had requested a private impound due to his front bumper having fallen off.
