MITIGATION DESCRIPTION
Construction is anticipated to start in 2019 and the Project is expected open to traffic in 2024.
Construction hours will conform to the City of Renton’s noise daytime ordinance requirements to the
extent possible. For nighttime work, a noise variance will be issued to WSDOT once the contractor’s
schedule is known.
Existing capacity will be maintained during construction activities to the extent possible. To the extent
feasible, lane or roadway closures will be minimized and scheduled to occur when there is the least
effect on traffic within the project corridor, such as overnight and weekend time periods.
WSDOT will coordinate with the local agencies and other projects to prepare a Traffic Management Plan
prior to making any changes to the traffic flow or lane closures. Local agencies, the public, school
districts, emergency service providers, and transit agencies will be informed of the changes in advance
through the media, the website, and an email listserv. Pedestrian and bicycle circulation will be
maintained as much as possible during construction.
