A 10-inch gate valve will need to be installed on the existing 10-inch water main. One gate valve will need to be installed near the northwest corner of the building, south of the existing hydrant and fire sprinkler supply line to the building. Please see attached for graphical representation of the gate valve location. a. The new isolation valve along with the existing valve at the southwest corner of the building will allow the City to isolate this section of the water main in case of a main break and still maintain fire protection service to the building. This will also allow time for the City to notify Verizon to temporarily move their equipment so that the City can repair the line. b. In accordance with City Code, all work on existing water mains needs to be performed by the City’s Public Works Department, therefore, Verizon will need to pay for City Staff to install these valves. c. Estimated cost of the cut in for the 10-inch valves and restoration the parking lot is between $6,000 to $7,500. If a specialized billing letter is provided, the City can invoice Verizon for the work. 2. Verizon will need to provide the City with a Hold Harmless Agreement in case equipment is damaged by a main break near this antenna location. Please let us know if the above is acceptable and Alex can proceed with the Land Use request.
