of the Laurel Crest Plat (Exhibit 1). The property is located within the R-8 zone. The proposed fence would have a maximum
height of 6 feet and encroach 5 feet into the required 15-foot side yard along a street setback. The proposed fence would be

ADVISORY NOTE: The applicant should contact the Utility Notification Center, by dialing 800-424-5555,
to determine the location of underground utilities (telephone, streetlights, cable,
electric), which may be located behind the sidewalk.
Appeals of permit issuance must be filed in writing on or before 5:00 p.m. on May 14, 2014, together with the
required fee with: Hearing Examiner, City of Renton, 1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057. Appeals to the
Examiner are governed by RMC 4-8-110 and more information regarding the appeal process may be obtained from
the Renton City Clerk's Office, 425-430-6510.
Reconsideration: Within 14 days of the decision date, any party may request that the decision be reopened by the
approval body. The approval body may modify his decision if material evidence not readily discoverable prior to the
original decision is found or if he finds there was misrepresentation of fact. After review of the reconsideration
request, if the approval body finds sufficient evidence to amend the original decision, there will be no further
extension of the appeal period. Any person wishing to take further action must file a formal appeal within the
14-day appeal time frame.

Dear Sir/Madam,
It is our desire to construct a permanent cedar 6' privacy fence encroaching in to the 15' side yard
setback at the south of the property of Lot 42 at Laurel Crest. This fence will be facing south and have
approved plat landscaping in front of it along with other grasses which is similar to other applications in
the project. The fence would extend into the 15' setback line on the side yard of the property up to but
not extending into the utility easement. It will be similar in design and material to the other approved
fences located in the development. The locations include Lot 1, approved permit #LUA08-37, Lot 5,
approved permit #LUA09-091, Lot 20, approved permit #LUA12-30, Lot 21, approved permit #LUA12-
050, Lot 22, approved permit #LUA12-024, Lot 23, approved permit #LUAll-093, and Lot 33, approved
permit #LUA08-50. The purpose of this fence is to provide rear yard screening and security for this lot.
We feel this maintains a consistent application of the look and feel of the community.
