EE97372 CASE# 24-7214 OFC LNaoy L isI©�ON 07/10/24 16:08 F cu NARRATIVE 24-7214 On 07/10/2024 at approximately 1611 hours, I was dispatched to a vehicle collision with possible injury in the 500 block of Sunset Boulevard NE at the on-ramp to northbound 1-405, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. While en route, Dispatch advised that there was a two-vehicle collision, and that both vehicles were blocking with airbag deployment reported in one of the vehicles and therefore the Renton Regional Fire Department was dispatched as a precaution. Upon arrival, I noticed one of the involved vehicles had airbag deployment and significant damage suffered because of a recent collision. Upon contacting the involved parties, both parties were asked if they had any injuries and both drivers and passengers of both vehicles denied needing medical aid. The driver of Unit#2 had noticeable redness and skin irritation on her left forearm. As Renton Regional Fire Department was already dispatched, I advised driver of Unit#2 if pain from the site of injury increases, she can request to get that injury checked out upon RRFD arrival. The driver and passenger of Unit#1 (driver Tan Hao and passenger Yongli Niu) were both positively identified by providing their WADL. The driving of Unit#1 stated he was traveling northbound on Sunset Boulevard NE and had proceeded into the left-turn lane to proceed onto the on-ramp for northbound 1-405. The driver of Unit#1 proceeded out into the intersection which was controlled by a posted Yield sign where he was met by Unit#2 which was in the oncoming lane of travel. Both vehicles collided in the intersection causing significant damage to both Unit#1 and Unit#2. Driver of Unit#1 stated that the oncoming vehicle Unit#2 was driving at higher than posted speeds and that was the reason behind the collision. The driver and passenger of Unit#2 (driver Cadence Chavez and passenger Taylor Dansie) were both positively identified via provided WADL and stated that they were traveling southbound on Sunset Boulevard NE approaching the 1-405 overpass. The driver of Unit#2 stated she was intending to continue south on Sunset Boulevard NE. The driver of Unit#2 stated that while continuing south, she observed Unit#1 pull out into her lane of travel. The driver of Unit#2 stated she swerved around Unit#1 but due to the space left in the lane was unable to avoid the collision and subsequently collided with Unit#1 which caused significant damage to both vehicles. Based on the above statements, 1 believe that the driver of Unit#1 (Tan Hao) was the predominant factor for the cause of collision as Tan Hao is required to comply with RCW 46.61.190(3) which states that every driver of a vehicle approaching the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic of the intersecting roadway must stop before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. Unit#2 was already underway in the roadway and had right of way. I cited Short via mail for violation of 46.61.190(3). Both Units had to be towed off scene due to extensive damage.
