Recognizing the 2024 Drum Corps International Performance atRenton Memorial Stadium
‘.VHEREAS,for nearly half a century,Drum Corps International (DCI)has stood at the forefront of marching
music’s major leagues,pioneering a global stage for the world’s most elite and exclusive marching ensembles
for student musicians and performers;and
WHEREAS,DCI was conceived in 1971 by thirteen founding member organizations,aiming to unify youth-
focused competitive drum corps events across North America,thereby fostering a spirit of unity,performance
excellence,and leadership among young musicians;and
M7IIEREAS,as a non-profit entity officially established in 1972,Drum Corps International has supported
numerous programs worldwide,sanctioning participating recognized drum corps,SoundSport®performance
ensembles,and DrumLine BattleTM teams,and organizing more than 100 competitive events annually that
comprise the Drum Corps International Tour;and
M7HEREA.S,DCI has effectively delivered the message of “excellence in performance and in life”to over 7.2
million young people involved in the performing arts across the United States,through diverse avenues
including DCI.org,corporate sponsorship,annual broadcast initiatives,and outreach to high school music
programs;and
WHEREAS,the City of Renton shares DCI’s dedication to pursuing excellence,creativity,innovation,and
mutual care and respect,as well as fostering teamwork,collaboration,and visionary leadership within our
community;and
WHEREAS,DCI’S vision of a world where the transformative benefits of marching music performing arts are
widely recognized aligns with our city’s goats to enrich the cultural,social,and recreational life of our residents;
and
W7IIEREAS,the 2024 performance at Renton Memorial Stadium is inspired by a message of unity and peace,
symbolized through the iconic song “Imagine”by John Lennon;
NOW THEREFORE,I,Armondo Pavone,Mayor of the City of Renton,do hereby proclaim July 6,2024,as
the official Drum Corps International Performance in Renton,and I encourage all residents to join me in this
special observance.
IN ‘WITNESS THEREOF,I hav hereunto set my hand and caused the seal
of the City of Renton to be affixed this 6th day of July,2024.
