STAFF COMMENTS
DCAO Rowland provided the following updates to the commission:
• Be on the lookout for a link to the budget survey and please share with your networks.
• Save the Date: On July 8, there will be a reception for the Nishiwaki Sister City delegation
before the Council meeting; the delegation is visiting July 8-10 to reestablish the
relationship with Renton School District exchange program.
• Website update underway: a navigation test link will be sent out; please provide feedback
and pass along to your networks.
• July meeting: we will review the HR Inclusion Tactical Plan.
• August meeting: Kristi may be out of office; we will potentially cover Public Records and
OPMA training.

City partnerships to support vulnerable youth
Maryjane Van Cleave, Parks & Recreation Administrator
Jaime Greene, Communities in Schools of Greater King County Executive Director
COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Commissioner Imaoka commented that she attended the Neighborhood Program Teen Takeover
BBQ to table and was disappointed in the offerings, particularly teen-related tables and services.
Commissioner Imaoka offered to serve as a translator and offered assistance with the upcoming
visit from our Nishiwaki Sister City delegation.
Commissioner Baddeley commented that her daughter recently participated in a drunk-driving
accident re-enactment at her high school with RFA and RPD that was very impactful and
appreciated.
Commissioner Jones wished everyone a happy Pride Month and commended Renton for putting
focus on the LGBTQ community. Commissioner Jones encouraged everyone to look at LGBTQ
biases, and celebrate this important month.
Commissioner Ballard mentioned the Juneteenth event taking place at Liberty Park on June 15.
COMMITTEE CHAIR COMMENTS
Chair Hill wished everyone a happy Pride Month and thanked Vice Chair Davis for running the meeting.
