This report is a summation of events that occurred and is not an exact sequence of events. On 09-05-23, at approx. 1451 hrs, while I was on the scene of an active fire which was located at a building on the northeast corner of S. 3rd St/Main Ave S., I was notified of a collision that had occurred a few minutes before. An involved party, later photo identified through her WADL as Aurora E. McKinney (04-13-78), called in to report she had been in a collision with a firetruck. The firetruck was going to the above- mentioned fire. She continued on and parked down the street to wait for police. After the fire was out, I contacted the driver of the firetruck on scene, photo identified through his WADL as Kraig A. J. Jackson (06-22-81). He identified his firetruck as an engine from Fire Station 11, bearing WALP C0412C, a 2017 Emon Firetruck. I observed damage on the front bumper, with a light hanging down and several others ajar. Jackson was not injured. He gave me the following statement: He was driving east on S. 3rd St, in the #2 lane. He had his emergency lights activated but not his siren. The light was red for east bound traffic. He came up beside a King County Metro bus that was in the #1 lane. The bus was blocking the view of south bound traffic so he slowed and began nosing out into the intersection. As soon as he got out into view, an oncoming car came through the intersection and struck the front of the firetruck. He continued on to fight the fire after the collision. After finishing with Jackson and taking photos of the firetruck, I responded to the area of Wells Ave S./Houser Way S. to contact McKinney. She was out of the car talking with several other people by that point. No medical attention was requested. She provided the necessary paperwork to me and gave me the following statement: McKinney was southbound in her car, a black 2010 Honda Fit with WALP ACA1811, on Main Ave S. in the far-right lane closest to the buildings. She had a solid green light at S. 3rd Ave/Main Ave S. As she approached the intersection, she saw a King County Metro bus nosing out into the crosswalk, at a slight angle. She slowed, unsure of what the bus was doing, but continued through the intersection. As she came by and past the bus, a fire truck was coming out at the same time. It had its emergency lights on but no siren. She saw it too late and was unable to stop in time to avoid it. The passenger side of her car was struck by the front bumper of the firetruck, causing moderate damage to the car. She continued on after the collision away from the fire to wait for police, calling 911 to report the accident. I took photos of her car, later uploaded with the others to evidence.com. I provided my business card with the case number to both drivers. I did not issue any citations to either driver. Aurora McKinney was listed as Driver 1 solely and totally on the basis of her name being alphabetically first. This report is for insurance purposes only. Nothing further. PAGE 3 OF 4 REPORT NO.
